The air at Price’s Auto Garage buzzed with the sound of engines and tools, the usual symphony of work that set the place alive each day. Price, Soap, Gaz, and Ghost moved around the garage with quiet confidence, focused on their tasks. They were the best at what they did, hands skilled and practiced, but the front desk? It was a mess. Calls went unanswered, invoices piled up, and the schedule was a puzzle no one had time to piece together. Price finally decided they needed help at the front.
The moment you walked in for the interview, they noticed.
You stood in the doorway, posture relaxed, radiating a confident smile as you scanned the space. Even though garages weren't exactly familiar territory, you weren’t about to let that show. Price gave you a welcoming nod, gesturing you inside, while Soap looked you over with a smirk, already leaning against a toolbox. Gaz offered a warm smile, while Ghost stood off to the side, arms crossed, as unreadable as ever.
Price glanced through your resume with a quick nod, but it was clear they’d made up their minds as soon as you walked in. A few questions later, and the job was yours.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t long before you found yourself in the midst of the garage’s organized chaos. The phone rang constantly, schedules made only partial sense, and sometimes, the invoices looked like a language of their own. You tried your best to keep up, but this was a whole new world.
“Ah, I think… these are for you?” You handed Price a stack of papers one morning, hesitating when his eyebrows lifted in surprise.
“Love, these are last week’s invoices.” Price held back a chuckle, his eyes kind even as he gently corrected you. “I’ll show you how we sort ’em out, alright?”
His large hands guided yours through the stacks, showing you the little tricks they used to keep things organized. He took his time, explaining everything patiently, his voice low and calm as he brushed your shoulder every now and then. By the end of it, you had a better grasp—sort of.
Tumblr media
Soap, however, took a different approach. Every few hours, he’d call you over, pulling you away from your desk to check out whatever project he was working on.
“Oi, lass, come look at this,” he called out one afternoon, grinning as he waved you over to the car he was working on.
You tried to seem interested, leaning in as he explained the engine in detail, even though the terms were lost on you. Your confidence started slipping as he talked about pistons, valves, and all kinds of parts you’d never heard of, but you nodded along, pretending to understand.
“See this part here?” He pointed, smirking as you leaned in closer, glancing from him to the engine.
“Oh, yeah! The… thing,” you managed, biting back a laugh when he rolled his eyes, grinning even wider.
“You’ve no idea what I’m on about, do ya?” He chuckled, nudging you playfully with his elbow. “Don’t worry, lass, I’ll teach ya everything I know. Might just take a bit.”
Despite your confusion, his excitement was infectious, and you found yourself laughing along, even if you still didn’t understand a word.
Tumblr media
Gaz was the one who always made sure you felt comfortable, sensing when you were a bit overwhelmed. Every morning, he’d bring you a coffee, setting it on your desk with a small smile.
“To keep you sharp,” he said with a wink, and you’d thank him, feeling a little less lost in the unfamiliar world of auto repairs.
One afternoon, as you struggled with the printer again, Gaz appeared by your side. He’d noticed your mounting frustration and stepped in without a word, reaching over to press a few buttons with expert ease.
“Here, let me show you.” His hand rested on yours as he guided you through the steps, his voice soft and patient. You felt his presence close beside you, his attention entirely on helping you, and your nerves calmed as you finally figured out the tricky machine.
“You’re getting it,” he said with an approving nod, his fingers brushing yours for a moment longer before he stepped back, a quiet sense of pride in his smile.
Tumblr media
Ghost, meanwhile, kept his distance—until you made a mistake too big for him to ignore. One evening, you’d accidentally given the wrong keys to a customer, causing a brief mix-up in the garage. Ghost’s expression was steely as he came over to you, clearly unimpressed.
“These keys belong to the truck in the back,” he said, his tone gruff but calm as he held them out to you.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I just—” You stammered, caught off guard by the intensity in his gaze.
He took a slow breath, running a hand over his face before meeting your eyes again. “Just double-check before you hand ’em out next time, alright?”
You nodded, cheeks flushed, but Ghost’s expression softened almost imperceptibly when he noticed your nervousness. Later, he quietly came over, placing the keys in their correct spots while you watched, making sure you’d gotten it right.
“Just remember,” he said, his voice low, “no rush. Take your time.” And with a small nod, he returned to his work, his rare show of patience lingering with you.
---
One rainy evening, as you prepared to leave, you stood by the door, staring at the downpour. You’d forgotten your jacket, and with the way the rain was coming down, you’d be soaked in minutes.
Ghost was passing by, his eyes flicking between you and the rain outside. He let out a sigh, already pulling out his keys. “Come on. I’ll drive you.”
Surprised, you followed him to his truck, slipping into the passenger seat as he climbed in. The ride was quiet but comfortable, the steady rhythm of the rain filling the silence. His presence was somehow reassuring, and you found yourself relaxing, even sneaking a few glances at him as he drove.
“Thanks for this,” you murmured as he pulled up to your place, his gaze still fixed forward.
He gave a small nod, his voice barely above a whisper. “Just get yourself a jacket next time.” But the corners of his mouth turned up slightly, and you knew he didn’t mind.
After that night, you’d started to find your rhythm in the garage. The guys were quick to help when you needed it, and slowly, you felt like part of the team. The way they each looked out for you in their own way brought you a quiet sense of belonging that you hadn’t expected, making the unfamiliar chaos of the garage feel like somewhere you could finally call home.
——
Over the next few months, the garage became more than just a workplace—it became a second home. The guys were always there, whether to lend a hand, share a laugh, or tease you about some new mistake. You noticed how each of them had their own way of making sure you were taken care of. And somewhere along the way, your small, shared moments with each of them started to feel… different.
Price became more attentive, stopping by your desk to chat with you about your day, his warm gaze lingering a moment too long. Soap’s teasing got softer, almost affectionate, his laughs filled with genuine happiness when he saw you smile. Gaz made a habit of bringing you coffee every morning, but now he’d stay a little longer, brushing your hand as he passed the cup, his gaze lingering on your lips. Even Ghost, usually distant, had become gentler, staying around the garage a little longer just to make sure you got home safe.
The four men started to notice each other’s shifts in behavior too. What was once harmless camaraderie and teamwork started to feel like an unspoken rivalry, each of them vying for more of your attention. Eventually, it reached a tipping point, and one late night at the garage, they decided to address it head-on.
Tumblr media
“Alright, lads,” Price began, crossing his arms as he looked at the others. “It’s about her, isn’t it?”
Soap scoffed, trying to brush it off. “You mean the way you get all soft whenever she’s around?” he said, though there was no real bite to his tone.
Gaz chuckled, running a hand over the back of his neck. “We all know it’s not just Price. Let’s be honest with ourselves here.”
Ghost, silent as ever, watched the others, his gaze thoughtful. “You’re not wrong,” he admitted, his voice low but steady. “Guess we’ve all got feelings for her. Question is, what’re we gonna do about it?”
They sat in silence for a moment, each processing the quiet admission that their feelings ran deeper than simple friendship. Price broke the silence, his voice firm yet understanding.
“We’re not just co-workers; we’re a team,” he said. “So, if we’re all on the same page about her, then maybe it’s time we tell her.”
Tumblr media
A few days later, the four of them gathered the courage to bring up the subject with you. It was the end of a long workday, and you were about to head home when Price called you over, his tone uncharacteristically serious.
As you walked into the main garage, the four of them stood there, exchanging glances as if silently confirming that this was the right moment. You felt your heart race, sensing that whatever was about to happen was important.
Price cleared his throat, his usual steady demeanor softening as he looked at you. “We, uh… have something we need to talk to you about. All of us.”
Confused, you looked between them, giving a small nod. “Okay, I’m listening.”
They each took turns explaining, their words stumbling a little at first but then gaining confidence as they shared their feelings. Price told you how much he admired your kindness and resilience, how you made the garage feel like home. Soap shared how much he loved making you laugh, how your presence was the highlight of his day. Gaz spoke of his protective instincts, how he felt compelled to make you happy. Even Ghost, usually guarded, admitted in his own quiet way that he’d come to care about you deeply.
It was overwhelming but touching, hearing each of them express feelings that you hadn’t dared to think might be mutual. Finally, Price looked at you, his eyes searching yours with a question that didn’t need words.
“Would you be open to… to something with all of us?” he asked gently.
It took a moment for you to process what they were asking, but as you looked at each of them, you realized that the idea didn’t scare you—in fact, it felt right.
“I… I would be,” you admitted, smiling as their tense expressions melted into ones of relief and happiness.
Tumblr media
From that point on, your relationships with them grew deeper and more intimate. You shared quiet mornings with Gaz, who’d bring you coffee and pull you close, his arm around you as you eased into the day together. Soap’s playful teasing turned more flirtatious, his laughter warm as he’d brush your hair back, stealing little kisses when no one was looking. Price had a way of grounding you, his strong arms always there to wrap around you at the end of a long day, pressing soft, lingering kisses to your forehead that made you feel safe. And Ghost, though still reserved, became more open, offering a gentle touch here and there, his presence comforting in a way that words couldn’t quite describe.
One evening, after closing up shop, you found yourself nestled between them on the worn leather couch in the break room. Gaz leaned close, his hand tracing gentle patterns on your back, while Soap’s arm draped across your shoulders, pulling you close as he whispered jokes in your ear, his voice warm and soft. Price sat at your side, his hand resting on your knee, thumb drawing small circles as he met your gaze with a soft smile, his eyes filled with a quiet understanding.
And Ghost, ever the silent observer, brushed a gentle hand over your shoulder, his fingers lingering at your neck. You felt their affection surrounding you, each of them bringing their own unique warmth and comfort, and you knew that this—this closeness, this shared connection—was something rare, something to be cherished.
Over time, your moments together grew more intimate. The nights you spent with them were full of whispered words and gentle touches, each one of them showing their love in their own way. Soap’s playful nature softened, his teasing replaced with gentle affection as he held you close, his laughter quiet as he stroked your hair. Gaz would pull you into his lap, his hands warm against your back as he kissed you deeply, his eyes filled with warmth as he traced his thumb over your cheek. Price, always steady, would hold you close, his presence reassuring as he kissed you with a softness that made you feel cherished, his voice low as he murmured words of love.
And Ghost, though still quieter than the others, would sit beside you, his fingers brushing over yours, his touch reverent as he watched you with a gaze that spoke volumes. When he held you, it was gentle, almost hesitant, as if he couldn’t believe you were there with him.
In these shared moments, you found a kind of love and connection that you’d never known. Together, you formed a bond stronger than any you’d ever imagined, a family bound by love and trust. And in their arms, surrounded by their warmth, you knew you’d found a home, one where you were loved wholly and completely by each of them.

18+ MINORS DNI
It was no secret that Wanda was promiscuous, even with two 10 year old boys who live with her throughout the school week. It gave her time as she asked her best friend's sister for help around the house on the weekend, as a way to earn extra money for the repairs that Wanda had no knowledge about.
“So, my fridge has been making this awful sound.” Wanda informed Y/N who just listened as Nat was making some drinks. “I figured you might know something about it while studying engineering?”
“I can have a look at it on Saturday, if that’s ok with you?” She asked her as Wanda smiled.
“That’s perfect.” She gave the younger woman’s knee a squeeze. “Just come by anytime, I’ll be home all day.”
“You need to meet someone, Wanda.” Nat said as she placed the drinks down. “You aren’t getting any younger.”
“I think she’s aging like a fine wine.” Y/N blurted out, making Yelena laugh through her nose. “What?” She questioned the blonde, completely missing the blush forming on the older woman’s cheeks. It was no secret to Yelena that Y/N had the biggest crush on Wanda, but she would never do anything to ruin Wanda’s friendship with Nat.
“Actually, come by on Friday evening, you can have a look at it and I’ll make you something to eat.” Wanda told her firmly as she stood up, Nat looked at her friend worried in case she had crossed a line.
“Of course.” Y/N nodded with a smile as Wanda left the house, Nat following behind her.
“Wanda, are you ok?” She asked as she followed Wanda to her car.
“I have to pick up the twins.” She told her as she unlocked the door.
“I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable, but I really think you should put yourself out there again.” Nat told her. “I just want you to be happy.”
“I am happy.” Wanda told her. “I just need to concentrate on Billy and Tommy.”
“Come on, you still have the fattest crush on her.” Yelena teased Y/N as she followed the younger one to her room.
“And?” She replied as she turned to face her. “It’s not like anything will ever happen because I am still in college.”
“You’re 24.” Yelena corrected her.
“And Wanda is 37, she will not go for someone who is 13 years younger.” Y/N told her as she turned around to get her paper out. “I need to finish this for monday.” She told her sister who just nodded, leaving her be as she worked on her thesis.
Wanda spent the rest of the week thinking about what Y/N had said. She remembered Y/N had had a crush on her since they were younger, it was something she had always deemed as cute but now she wonders what it will be like to be with her. To use Y/N for her own personal needs.
“I have made sure that Billy has a spare inhaler.” Wanda told Jarvis when he came to pick up the twins for the weekend. “Also, Tommy has a soccer match on Sunday at lunch time.”
“I know.” He spoke tiredly as the twins waited tiredly by the door. Wanda gave the twins a kiss on the cheek and a hug before they left with their father, leaving Wanda to clean the house before Y/N arrived. She took a deep breath as there was a knock on the door. When she opened it, she gave Y/N a nervous smile as she answered the door.
“So, the fridge.” Y/N spoke up, breaking the awkward silence between the two of them.
“Yes.” She stepped aside, letting Y/N inside before leading her into the kitchen. “It’s making this whirring sound, it’s very faint but I have sensitive ears and it is very annoying.”
“I’ll take a look at it now and see what tools I’ll need to bring tomorrow.” Y/N told her. Wanda watched as Y/N moved the fridge out to have a look at the motor behind it. She bit her lip as she could hear Y/N mumble to herself, most likely taking mental notes of how she could fix it. After what felt like forever, Y/N finally came out from behind, moving it back to its spot. “It’s just a simple fix, I have my tool box in my car and I can fix it now if you’d like.”
“Are you sure?” Wanda asked her as she nodded.
“Of course.” Y/N was fast to leave to retrieve her tools before getting straight to work. Wanda busied herself by making some food for the two of them while Y/N had worked. She was soon broken out of her thoughts when Y/N had pushed the fridge back. “How does it sound now?” Y/N asked Wanda as the two remained silent for a moment.
“I can’t hear it.” She whispered with a smile. “Thank you so much.” She wrapped her arms around Y/N’s shoulders, hugging her tightly before pulling away slightly, looking into the younger woman’s eyes for a moment. “How did you grow up so beautifully?” She whispered as she caressed Y/N’s cheek.
“I don’t know.” Y/N answered nervously, all of a sudden her mouth was dry as Wanda’s gaze shot to her lips. “I guess I was lucky.” Wanda shook her head no as their noses touched.
“I guess I just have never seen you like this before.” Wanda whispered as Y/N raised a questioning brow. “You were always my best friend’s little sister and now.” Her voice trailed off as her hands moved slowly round Y/N’s neck to her chest.
“Now what?” Y/N asked as Wanda sighed as Y/N pressed her body closer to Wanda’s.
“As someone who can make me scream.” Wanda told her seductively, giving Y/N a go ahead to kiss her roughly. Wanda moaned as she was pushed against the opposite counter, her hands gripping Y/N’s shirt as the two made out like horny teenagers. “Fingers.” Wanda gasped as Y/N started to kiss and suck her neck. “I need your fingers.” Y/N kept ignoring her words so Wanda grabbed a fistful of Y/N’s hair, pulling her face away, a smirk grew on her face as Y/N moaned at the action. “On your knees.” Wanda ordered her as Y/N did as she was told, watching as Wanda undone her bottoms. Wanda smirked as Y/N licked her lips. “Mommy needs your help.” Wanda pulled down her jeans and underwear in one go. “Can you do that for me, kitten? Can you help me with that pretty mouth?”
All Y/N could do was nod as Wanda ran her fingers through Y/N’s hair. Y/N inhaled the arousal that was dripping down Wanda’s thighs before diving in. Licking a strip through her folds before she sucked on Wanda’s clit. Her arms wrapped around Wanda’s thighs as Wanda’s moans filled the kitchen, Wanda’s hand keeping Y/N’s head in place as she worked.
“Fuck.” Wanda moaned as Y/N inserted two fingers, keeping her lips wrapped around Wanda’s bundle of nerves. “Right there.” She cried out as her legs started to shake, thighs clenching around Y/N’s head as she increased her speed as she added a third finger. “Y/N!” Wanda screamed as she came, feeling Y/N’s tongue as she cleaned her up. Once Y/N had come out for air, Wanda pulled her up and kissed her roughly, moaning as she tasted herself on Y/N’s tongue. “I am going to have so much fun with you kitten.” She whispered before the doorbell rang. Quickly getting herself ready before she left the kitchen to answer the door to her neighbour.
“Oh, hi Y/N.” Agatha beamed, greeting the younger woman who approached with her toolbox.
“Hi.” She then turned to Wanda. “Your fridge is fixed.”
“Wait here, let me get the money for you.” Wanda grazed her arm as Y/N shook her head.
“It’s ok Wanda.” She told her. “I really have to go.”
“I’ll drop it off with Nat tomorrow.” Wanda smiled at the younger woman before she left, soon allowing Agatha inside.
“So, Wanda and I are also going out tonight so we will probably see you guys.” Nat told both Yelena and Y/N who groaned. It had been weeks since Y/N had fixed the fridge and now every week, Wanda says there is a new job just so she and Y/N can have some of their own fun.
“Seriously? Don’t make a show because I am trying to pull someone.” Yelena stated as Y/N smirked.
“So, you’re finally going to make a move on Kate?” She questioned with a raised brow.
“Are you going to finally make a move on Wanda?” She challenged as Nat was the one to laugh.
“I haven’t heard that in years.” Both Yelena and Y/N turned to face her. “We both used to think your crush on her was cute, although it would be fucked up if you still had a crush on her considering she has watched you grow up.” With that she left as Yelena gave Y/N a sad smile, handing her her jacket before the two left to meet their friends.
Once the two had separated, Y/N had found Carol, Sharon and Bucky. The four of them greet each other with a round of shots. As the night wore on, everyone started to loosen up and started to dance, Sharon dragged Y/N to the dancefloor, grinding on her just as Wanda walked through the door with Nat.
“Please don’t tell me they’re fucking again.” Nat groaned as Wanda’s eyes landed on Y/N and Sharon. Jealousy burned within as she watched Sharon grind on her kitten.
“Let’s get a drink.” Wanda dragged Nat over to the bar, ordering themselves a drink as Carol sauntered over.
“Hey Nat.” She smirked at the older woman. “How are you sweets?” She asked as Wanda tried not to laugh as Nat blushed lightly.
“I am ok.” Nat answered quickly before taking a big sip of her drink. “How are you?” She asked the younger woman who’s fingers now danced on Natasha’s shoulder.
“I am even better now your beautiful self is here.” She flirted as Wanda rolled her eyes, watching as Sharon disappeared towards the bathroom. Wanda walked over to Y/N who started to dance with another girl on the dancefloor. She soon moved in front of Y/N and started to grind on her.
“Who was that?” Wanda asked as she turned around, pulling on Y/N’s jacket.
“That was Sharon, she’s just a friend.” Y/N told her honestly.
“It seemed like she was more.” Wanda told her firmly. “And that was also something that Natasha had mentioned too.”
“Seriously?” Y/N scoffed before heading for the exit, Wanda hot on her tail.
“Where are you going?” Wanda asked her as she wrapped her arms around herself as to shield herself from the cold.
“Home.” Y/N answered bluntly.
“You can’t leave on your own.” Wanda told her. “Your sisters and friends will worry about you.”
“I’m sure they are all occupied,Wanda.” She told her firmly, Wanda just scoffed before she approached Y/N, gripping her jaw as she forced the younger woman to look into her eyes.
“I expect to be shown respect, kitten.” She growled as Y/N gulped. “Will you show mommy some respect?”
“Yes.” Y/N answered.
“Yes what?” Wanda raised a brow.
“Yes mommy.” Y/N whimpered as Wanda soon flagged down a cab, sending a quick message to Nat, explaining that she didn’t feel up to being out.
As the driver drove to Wanda’s house, the two made out in the backseat like a couple of teens. Once the driver was paid, Wanda dragged Y/N inside and up to her bedroom.
“Strip.” She ordered her, sitting on the edge of the bed as Y/N disposed of her clothes, soon standing before her completely nude. Wanda stood up and turned her back to her. “Unzip me.” Y/N did as she was told, helping the older woman strip. Once Wanda stood before Y/N, looking up into her eyes as her fingers danced on the skin of the younger woman. “You know, I don’t think I have ever felt this alive as I do with you.” She moved away to get something from her nightstand. “I know we have only used our fingers and tongues, but I have had dreams.” She helped Y/N with the harness. “Not so innocent ones of you fucking me with this strap.” She slapped Y/N’s ass before massaging it. “Will you fuck mommy, kitten? Fuck mommy until she can’t take it no more.”
“Yes mommy.” Y/N kissed Wanda roughly, her arms wrapping around the older woman as she walked her towards the bed, pushing her down on her back before she started to attack the older woman’s neck, kissing and biting wherever she could. Wanda’s moans filled the room as Y/N sucked harshly on her nipples as the toy massaged her clit as their hips mildly grinded together.
“Fuck me.” She ordered Y/N who did as she was told. Inserting the full length of the toy, making Wanda’s hold on her tighten as she started to thrust her hips, pulling out just to slam right back in. Wanda’s screams in pleasure only spurred her on as she soon increased her pace. “I’m so close.” Wanda mewled as Y/N continued her movements, wanting to keep her happy. Soon enough Wanda screamed as she came, smiling as Y/N kissed her softly as she pulled out, only to push Y/N on her back as she straddled her stomach. “You have a mess to clean.” With that, she lined her already dripping core with Y/N’s face, lowering herself down as Y/N’s arms wrapped around her legs, using her tongue as Wanda used her face as she wanted. Holding onto the headboard, her second orgasm fast approached as she was sensitive from the first orgasm. “OH Y/N!!!” She screamed as she came, Y/N lapped up every drop before the older woman collapsed beside her, helping Y/N remove the strap before she cuddled up to her. The two lay in silence for a moment before Y/N spoke up.
“What does this mean to you?” She asked the older woman, her voice laced with raw vulnerability.
“I don’t know.” She whispered as she held onto Y/N’s hand, playing with her fingers. “When it happened the first time, it was just supposed to be some sort of release for me.” She looked up into Y/N’s eyes. “I guess it’s more than just that because I am falling for you and I am so scared.”
“I’m afraid too.” Y/N confessed. “I have always had this pull towards you and I only understand now that it is love. I am in love with you Wanda, and I am afraid that you may never return my feelings.” Wanda kissed her tenderly before gazing into her eyes tenderly.
“I do.” Wanda told her sincerely. “I am in love with you, Y/N. I guess I have been since the moment you fixed my kitchen window.”
“That was almost a year ago.” She chuckled as Wanda nodded.
“I guess I was afraid.” She whispered as she yawned. “I had never been with a woman before and then you came home.” Y/N kissed the top of Wanda's head as she pulled the comforter over the two of them. Wanda sighed as she snuggled in further to Y/N who wrapped her protective arms around the older woman, falling asleep with smiles on their faces.

"No, no, no, no, NO!" You cry out as your car slowly begins to lose speed. This isn't the first time this week, nor the second, nor the third. You couldn't even count on one hand the amount of times the engine had been making that weird noise and the light had been blinking at you like a malevolent eye.
But you thought you could put it off, that you could easily ignore it, and that it would fix itself like it had many times before. Maybe you just needed to check the coolant or add some more water to the radiator, except you continuously forgot to do so. And it finally came back to bite you in the ass.
As the smoke comes out of the hood, you grip the steering wheel tightly, a loud grunt escaping your lips as your forehead presses against the horn, the loud noise filling the air all around you. Still, you are lucky enough to be in a somewhat empty area so the least amount of people will be disturbed.
Your first instinct is to panic. You can feel the blood rushing through your body, your face getting warmer as a few tears begin to prickle in your eyes. You let out a shaky exhale, cursing yourself for allowing this situation to happen in the first place. Before you can even begin to cry, you feel your phone vibrating in the cup holder next to you, the caller's name showing up on the screen attached to the dashboard. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ‎‎‎"Sunshine ☼"
With a sniffle, you wipe the tears before they even have the chance to roll down your cheeks and pick up your phone, pressing the green button on the screen as you try your best to sound like you are composed and not entirely freaking out at the moment.
"Hello, my most beloved," you say, trying your best to sound like your playful self. Though it has no sound, you can almost hear the smile dropping off Hanji's face. It was not out of the ordinary for them to quickly pick up on the slightest change in your tone of voice.
"What happened?" They ask without missing a beat, the tone of their voice filled with love and concern, almost as if they were already expecting you to be in some sort of distress. "I was doing the dishes and accidentally broke a glass because I got such a bad feeling that my hand started shaking."
You sniffle but a small giggle exits your chest, the idea that the two of you are so intertwined that they can even sense when you are in some sort of distress, "Yeah, I'm fine… My car just finally gave out on me and I'm in the middle of a random neighborhood because I decided today, out of all days, to take a random shortcut!"
"Send me your location, and I'll get my tools and meet you over there," they say and you can already hear them moving around on the other end of the line. You wish you could protest but, the more you look at your car, the more panic fills your body. So you simply let out a quiet "okay" before hanging up.
Though your hands nervously shake, you can open your text messages and send Hanji a pin of your exact location. It isn't too far from your house, maybe five minutes if you speed up, and that knowledge only adds more fuel to your frustration. "Why now? I could have easily pulled into my driveway before you gave out!" You can't help the angry grunt that leaves your throat as you slam your hand against the steering wheel.
The waiting time seems like an eternity, an eerie feeling in the back of your mind like you are being watched. Your eyes dart to your phone, half convinced that maybe you should just call a toll truck when you see the headlights of Hanji's motorcycle as they speed down the road.
The light from the post shines above them and you can barely distinguish if they are an angel or a real person. As soon as their bike is parked behind your car, you exit the vehicle, running towards their embrace.
Their hair is still messy from having a helmet on and they hold a small toolbox with their left hand, but that does not stop them from hugging you as tightly as they possibly can. Their lips press against your head as the two of you remain like that for a while.
"Shhh, it's ok, my love," you can feel the smile in their voice, a gentleness like nothing you have ever experienced before, "Hanji is here to fix your problems."
"I truly appreciate you coming this fast," you whisper against their chest, "I genuinely thought my car would be able to handle the journey today but… I guess I was wrong."
"Did you have any trouble starting it this morning?" They pull back, their arm still wrapped around your frame. You think for a second, having trouble focusing on anything other than this panicky feeling in your chest.
Slowly, you begin to remember your day: you left work and the car started. You left for lunch and the car started. Clearly, it had started when you left home that morning… Didn't it?
"Oh shit…" You whisper while an embarrassed expression takes over your features. Your eyes shift towards the ground as you pull slightly further away to create a bigger distance between your bodies, too self-conscious to even look at them. "I couldn't get the engine to turn this morning. I had to start it, put it in neutral, and then start it again."
They nod, kissing your forehead once more as they stand in front of the hood of your car. You are still too embarrassed to look but you can hear the moment their toolbox touches the ground and as their hands pop it open. A few seconds go by as they begin tinkering with the metal inside, though your knowledge of cars isn't deep enough for you to fully understand what is going on.
You cross one arm against your chest while the other rests above your hand, your index finger tapping on your cheek while you can't help but take small nibbles on your thumb's nail. The anxiety inside of your chest never dissipates, nor the shame.
The morning had been nothing but a blur. You woke up late for work, forgot to eat or even bring anything to snack on until you had time to go to lunch, spilled water all over your car, and, to top it all off, it was raining in the morning. The engine not starting was just one of the many, many things that had gone wrong. You meant to text Hanji about it so they could meet you during your work hours and fix it but, of course, you forgot to charge your phone the night before.
You close your eyes and exhale, leaning against the car. Before you can get yourself into a frenzy, you hear Hanji's gentle voice pulling you out of the dark spiral you were about to send yourself into, "Okay, good news and bad news."
"Please explain it to me like I'm five," you say, shooting them an exhausted look and it causes them to chuckle quietly. "Bad news first."
"The alternator, or thing that charges your car battery, isn't properly working for some reason. Maybe because it's old, maybe it's faulty, but it for sure will not start working again, like, that thing is dead."
You nod, surprisingly following along with what they are telling you. You realize that all this knowledge comes from the previous times they have come to your aid or maybe from all the times they would check under the hood of your car before you left their house while the two of you still lived in separate households. Regardless, you turn your attention to them once more.
"I checked the fluid and the coolant and everything seems to be full and working ok. I ran some codes and nothing out of the ordinary popped up and lastly, I checked your oil." They say, wiping the grime out of their hands with a bleached towel, their face slightly sweaty, especially around the area where their glasses sit on their nose.
"Fuck… And the good news?" You ask, biting your nails even more, almost to the point of blood. With a gentle and concerned expression, Hanji takes a few steps forward, wrapping their dirty digits around your trembling palms, and only then do you notice just how short your nails have become.
"I can easily fix it. The last one we bought still has a warranty, so I can just change them." They whisper, placing a kiss against your fingers. A sense of despair fills your body again as tears prickle at the corners of your eyes, your lip trembling as you speak in a quiet yet pathetic voice.
"Please, don't leave me alone."
They sigh, running their hand over their messy hair. They look over to the open hood of your car and around the neighborhood, trying to think about what the best choice would be in this situation.
"The store is fifteen minutes away, on my bike, I'll be back in - "
"Please, don't leave me alone!!" You beg desperately, whatever is left of your fingernails now digging into the skin of their biceps, your eyes are wide open as tears stream down. You weren't that upset about the car breaking down, but just the intensity of all the feelings you had been holding back finally caught up to you the moment you realized you would have to be without them for even a second.
Hanji is taken aback by how sudden your response is, and how desolate you sound. They can see the anxiety written all over your features and it causes their heart to ache in their chest. That's the moment in which they realize just how many feelings you have been bottling, just how bad your week has been, and just how you have refused to talk to them about it.
Almost like they gain consciousness, their arms wrap around your frame, pulling you closer to their body. In exchange, you bury your head on their chest, not carrying that their shirt is now covered in grime and sweat, even if it is chilly outside. "Is there anything you want to talk about?" They whisper, their lips pressed against the top of your head.
You want to shake your head, to put your walls up once more and brush it off as "just a bad day", but it was more than that. It had been a bad week, a bad month, and you had gone through it all by yourself, in silence. Crying in the shower but still putting on a smile when around them, your appetite barely exists but you still eat all of their cooking. But before you can deny anything, the tears begin pouring down your face once more, you cling to them like they are the last life vest on a sinking ship.
“I d-don’t know what is going on with me…” You gasp, hiding your face in a mixture of shame and search for comfort. “I just… I just want to be close to you at all times, I just never want to be alone and I just… Everything is too much and not enough, everything is going wrong. I…”
“My love,” they whisper, holding you slightly tighter with one arm. With their free hand, they prop up your chin, a gentle and warm smile taking over their lips once your eyes meet. “You don’t have to suffer alone, ok? I am here for you, no matter what, when, or where. I will always be by your side.”
“Good and bad?” You sniffle and they chuckle softly, brushing a strand of hair away from your eyes as they lean down so their forehead is touching yours. They nod.
“Good and bad, my angel…” They whisper, their eyes closing as your noses brush together. You lean closer, your lips brushing against theirs so lightly that it nearly feels like a paint-filled brush against a canvas, working its way through a halfway-painted masterpiece.
Hanji gently presses your body against the car door, their grip on your waist is tight as they make sure to keep you safely in place. Your lips are half-open, temptingly wet in the dim light of the street pole, your face is stained with silent tears and the only thought going through their head? “I really need to kiss her.”
And so they do. They lean forward ever so slightly until there is no more room between the two of you. When your lips collide, you can’t help the quiet gasp that exists in your body, your hand gently resting on their cheek while your thumb brushes against the softness of their skin.
You get lost in the warmth of their body, in how comforting it feels to have them pressed against you like this. Your nose brushes against theirs as your head tilts slightly to the side, the faint smell of coffee and menthol cigarettes still lingering on their breath as it mixes with the scent of the gum you had in your mouth earlier.
They nibble on your tongue gently, sometimes brushing the tip of their own against it and it’s enough to cause you to nearly melt in their arms. If it wasn’t for their strong arms holding you in place, you would have fallen to the ground into a puddle underneath their feet.
Neither of you wants to pull away, but the need to breathe is becoming stronger by the second. When you separate, your forehead rests against theirs, and your eyes remain closed as you enjoy the smell of their skin. Even if it isn’t a pleasant smell, it brings you too much comfort in this moment for you to care.
“I’ll call Moblit and he can come to help, ok?” They whisper, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. You nod, lacing your fingers with the ones on their left hand while they pull their phone out of their pocket with the other. "I'll send him to the store and I will stay with you. You won't be alone, I promise."
As they speak to the man on the other end of the line, you can’t help but allow a small smile to form on your lips as you think about how lucky you are to have someone like them in your life. Someone willing to stop everything at the drop of a hat to come to rescue you when you need them most.
As they blow you a kiss, you find yourself thinking about that one specific sentence once more, realizing that no truer words had ever been spoken:
“Hanji is here to fix all your problems.”

For the drabble prompt list
"none of this is your fault" mario and luigi
Drabbles, they said, Ha! I answered. Anyway, I have no idea where this came from, but enjoy this barely-edited not-drabble. I am apparently incapable of concise writing right now :D
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“None of this is your fault, Lou.”
Luigi scoffed, pushing dampened sleeves up both arms, smearing dark, sweaty grease across his skin in wide, impressionistic lines.
“You tell that to Toadsworth in three days. I’m sure he’ll be happy to believe you,” Luigi groused, tightening a stubborn, thick bolt with a violent twist. That should keep the engine boosters from flying off at speeds exceeding thirty miles an hour. (Or as they were counted in the Mushroom Kingdom, five hundred and two mycelia per second, a measuring system so opaque - and infuriating - that Luigi had sat through an entire five-hour Toad Council meeting just so he could petition the government to introduce a bill to launch a public vote on switching to any other quantifier that made a modicum of sense. The notion, of course, was voted down in a manner of seconds. Tradition, Mister Luigi, Toadsworth had sniffed, rapping his long-handled gavel with an imperious gesture, closing off all debate on the matter).
Snobby old toad could stuff it up his spore holes.
“He’ll get over it,” Mario said. “What’s he going to do, anyway? Make us sit through another boring state dinner?”
Luigi poked at a serpentine belt that resembled some slices of old cheese he once found in the back of their fridge in Brooklyn. How these guys managed to stay competitive with equipment in this condition was a complete slap in the face to basic physics.
“You like those dinners.” Luigi crawled out from under the dented chassis, sitting back on his haunches as he gestured at his brother with a ratchet-wrench, making curly patterns in the air as if he were a Magikoopa casting a spell.
“I hate those dinners as much as you. They’re hot, stuffy, and the food is an insult to the entirety of Brooklyn. It’s not my fault I get to sit next to Peach and you’re always stuck with Lady Maitake and her hundreds of onion bulb-pup photos for two hours.”
“Don’t remind me. Did you know she’s trying to train them to do circus acts and take them on the road?” Luigi ran a finger down one of the dusty schematics strewn about the stone floor. “Hand me that spanner, will you?”
Mario shook his head, chuckling, handing off the hooked tool to Luigi, who shimmied once more underneath the maroon-and-black kart. “Look, you got hoodwinked into a bad contract. I should have looked over the fine print before you signed.”
“You’re not my keeper, Mario,” Luigi grumbled, trying to keep the irritation out of his voice. “And it’s not even the contract that I care about. Frankly, I’m impressed Bowser’s been able to get these things to do anything beyond cough up smoke and crash into the nearest palm tree. It’s a good challenge to get them running again.”
“So what’s the issue, then?”
Luigi stilled, his hands guts-deep in a mess of wiring and cables that looked like an earthworm graveyard. After a moment, he sighed, letting the spanner tool clatter to the floor with a bright, metallic jangle.
“The issue,” he began, staring up at the internal electronic system of one of Bowser’s so-called best racing karts. “Is that he’s probably going to win. Bowser, that is. And everyone will make nice about it at the awards ceremony and Bowser will get too drunk on elderflower wine and get kicked out of the post-race party.”
“That happens every race, Lou.”
“Yeah, but you know Bowser. He’ll let it slip that I was the one doing repairs on his karts. And then in the morning, there will be a meeting. And Toadsworth will go on about the standing of the Kingdom being compromised and it being a diplomatic catastrophe that we allowed Bowser to win and that,” Luigi adopted a whiny, pompous voice. “Mr. Luigi has once again strained his credibility within the Mushroom Kingdom.”
“Look, that stodgy old Toad has no chance of making those charges stick. You were exonerated, Weeg. Nothing that happened with Bleck - “ Mario clenched his fists, hissing through his teeth. “Nothing that happened in that place was you. That wasn’t your fault, and neither is this.”
Luigi reached towards one of the dangling battery coils, playing with the violet and yellow wires between his fingers. “Sure,” he breathed. “Not me.”
“Not you,” Mario insisted, his voice steely. “And besides,” he continued, a hint of humor creeping into his words. If you’re so concerned about Toadsworth, why don’t you sabotage Bowser’s fleet?”
Luigi pushed himself out from under the kart, snapping up to a seat in wide-eyed horror.
“And ruin my reputation as an engineer? No way, bro. I’ll risk the treason charges, thank you very much.”
Mario guffawed, ambling over to take a seat next to his brother, the two coming shoulder-to-shoulder, backs set against the passenger door of the Koopa Coupe. “I think your reputation is beyond reproach, Lou.” Mario gave a small, uncertain smile. “After all, you did build two killer robots in the span of two weeks.”
It was a huge step forward, just being able to talk about the whole incident in Flipside, no less joke about it - the ordeal with Bleck and the jester and Luigi’s brainwashing. Mario had stayed tight-lipped about the entire debacle for weeks after they had gotten back, much to Luigi’s aggravation, until things came to a head one night due to a series of ill-conceived plans on the part of the Toad Council, the most brazen of which featured a misserved cup of tea laced with a dubiously legal truth potion.
Luigi sniffed out half a chuckle, nudging his brother in the shoulder. “Well, I can’t let Bowser think I’m slipping, right?”
Mario eyed his brother carefully, his features brightening as he caught the note of mischief in Luigi’s voice. Grinning, he clapped his brother on the knee. “You’ve got an idea, don’t you? The Old Koopa King doesn’t know what he’s got coming.”
Luigi straightened, composing himself into the picture of innocence. “Dear brother, I am a man of my word. Bowser will win the race, just like the contract stipulates.”
“And?”
“Aaand,” Luigi drew out the word, schematics and thermodynamic equations taking shape in his mind. “Let’s say the engine modifications I’m making happen to engage a set of rocket boosters at a certain speed threshold. Bowser’ll like that. But then maybe the activation of those boosters, given a certain location and time input, temporarily cede control of the brakes and steering to a pre-programmed route of the engineer’s choosing.” Luigi paused for dramatic effect. “All after the race is finished, of course. No injuries. No harm. Just a little post-race joyride through the forest.”
Mario gave a joyous whoop, bringing his brother into a tight, side-hug. “They’ll hear him screaming all the way in Rogueport! Ha! You know he’ll threaten to invade during the after-party! No one will care if you worked on his kart once he shows back up breathing smoke!”
“He’ll do that regardless,” Luigi laughed, feeling lighter than he had in weeks. “But you know how these modifications are. Always a chance of overburdening your circuits.”
“And at least it’ll be a while before he tries to trick you into doing his dirty work again,” Mario added.
“I hope so.” Luigi placed a warm hand on his brother’s shoulder, smiling. “Thanks, Mario.”
Mario beamed back at his brother, playfully flicking the brim of Luigi’s hat. “Come on, Lou. Show me how to build a sentient robot race kart.”
Humans are weird: Poop Crystals
( Please come see me on my new patreon and support me for early access to stories and personal story requests :D https://www.patreon.com/NiqhtLord Every bit helps)
The pace in which human technology progressed over the millennia was rather standard for a class 4 species. Even when accounting the periods of scientific degradation which resulted from natural plagues or religious persecution; it was expected that humans would not achieve advanced space travel until another 2-3 thousand years had passed.
Scientifically speaking human scientists were well more advanced than the society they lived in, but due to the technological limitations of the human race they were held back from implementing their designs. A primary limitation was the lack of a sufficiently powerful power source. They did have many different forms of power generators ranging from solar to nuclear, but to power larger machines often required equally large energy sources. To power their ships alone around a third of their vessels were dedicated to the power cores.
With these restrictions in place travel between stars for humans often relied on decade long journeys in cryo sleep; which ironically required even more power generators to maintain. Their large size made them easy targets for natural disasters such as space debris or prowling space pirates seeking an easy profit margin at the slave markets. These dangers became a standard for human travel until the Terran civilization encountered the planet Nolla 987 and the species that called it home.
During a long duration colonization trip the human ship “Midas” was struck by the trail debris of a rogue comet and knocked off course. The robotic caretakers tried their best to maintain the course, but with the damage done to the ship their primary programming to maintain the lives of the crew kicked in and diverted the ship to the nearest habitable planet for debarkation. Nolla 987 was the closest planet with a stable atmosphere. Originally charted several years earlier but deemed unsuitable for colonization or industrial expansion, it was not ear marked for either and left alone; until the Midas incident that is.
The landing was not a smooth one. Several engines had been damaged and multiple hull breaches resulted in portions of the ship being shredded away during the entry process. It would be safer to say that the Midas crash landed during the final stretch of the maneuver, but with a 73% survival rate of the crew a rather acceptable crash landing.
One by one the crew and colonists were unfrozen to find the ship a burning wreck and only a handful of robotic assistants still functioning. The industrial printing machines were relatively undamaged but without the ships power core they could not be used to print components or tools needed to make the necessary repairs. The crew was then forced to ration its remaining power supply and divided into two teams. The first team would comb through the wreckage and salvage what they could of the wreck while also building shelter. The second group would scout the surrounding area for anything of use and then report back.
It did not take long for the second team to stumble upon a nest of the dominant species of the planet. An insectoid called the “Sectar” which ranged from the size of a house cat to as large as a two story building. These insects digested their food and excreted the waste into a dense crystalian substance that they then used to build massive hive like complexes.
The occupants of the hive had been driven from the hive by the crash landing of the Midas leaving it almost completely empty save for a few eggs and new hatchlings who were not strong enough to flee on their own. Several of the second team members had been scanning the crystal structures while interacting with the newborn Sectar’s. To quote a journal entry of one of them, “They were like insect golden retrievers. Extremely derpy with at least four times as many sets of eyes. They followed us around on their legs like we were their mothers and clung to our legs when we began to return to our ship for the night.”
At least one of the second team was confirmed to have brought a hatchling back to their camp. There was a debate amongst the survivors on if they should try and eat it, but the notion was quickly squashed as they still had food reserves and no one was brave enough to see how the alien’s bio matter would react inside the human digestive system.
The same human who had brought the hatchling back offered it a portion of food which it eagerly ate. Not long after the hatchling excreted a hardened crystal roughly the size of a thimble. When the human made to pick up the seemingly beautiful gem they recoiled as an electrical discharge shocked their hand. This immediately drew the attention of the rest of the crew who began carefully examining the crystal substance. After some rather rough jury-rigging, the crystal was wired into one of the printer machines and to the surprise of everyone powered the machine. The crew quickly learned that the older Sectar’s would produce larger crystal excrements but were extremely hostile and territorial. Smaller Sectar’s were deemed more desirable for the time being as they were easier to train and harvest crystals from.
Within a matter of days the crew had not only collected enough crystals to power all of their machines and send out a distress signal, but also used the new found crystal power to create a full settlement on the planet complete with water filtration, crop fields, and a sizeable wall to keep out the native wildlife.
It would not be for another thirty years before a passing human shipped picked up their distress signal and went to investigate the planet. When they arrived on Nolla 987 they were astonished to find a fully functioning colony complete with limited orbital facilities. Nearly every human settler and their descendants had a Sectar in their household that they would take care of and feed and in exchange use their crystal excrement to power nearly everything they needed to live.
From there it was only a matter of time before the entirety of human space was aware of the events of Nolla 987 and the Sectar species. Within the decade the colony on Nolla 987 became the capital for a fully settled world with dozens of cities and communities. The Sectar species were transported throughout human space and began being implemented in all aspects of society.
There was initial resistance to the new power source by existing power blocks which realized Sectar power would be far more efficient than nuclear powered engines, but unlike other power sources they had squashed in development the Sectar power option had thirty years of trial and error to back it up with research as well as a fully functioning model with the planet of Nolla 987.
Sectar’s became a common sight on every human planet and were treated like common pets. It was even studied that when introduced to different food sources the energy output of crystal excrement could be increased resulting in certain food industries booming overnight. The composition of spices, cooking technique, and flavoring became an entirely new and highly prestigious academic field with the most successful of its practitioners being highly sought after by companies.
The technological capabilities of humanity experienced a massive surge in advancement within fifty years to the point humans no longer needed cryo ships to travel between stars. Those who had been studying humanity found themselves now being introduced to them as humans winded up on their doorstep with a Sectar on their shoulder and a perverse obsession with collecting its bodily waste.
The white, wadded clouds were threatening to cover the ground in sad tears of rain as you were wandering around the strange city you were in, all because of his love for traveling. Your car's engine decided to give up in the middle of the street and there you were, looking for anything that would serve as a roof under your head for the night, until he gave you a sign. Suddenly, your eyes started to beam as you saw a rundown ‘Mtel’ sign, written in red neon lights (one letter obviously missing), one that happened to have a car service on the first floor. You ran there as fast as you could, fearing that it was gonna close or something; and as soon as you got in front of it, you started to wonder if you were in the right place. Two guys were trying to make their parrot talk or something, a few french keys and other tools scattered around the floor as they seemed to be occupied with their pet.
"Uhm… hello?" you dared to talk and get their attention, having two pairs of eyes analyzing you. "My car broke down… and you seem to work with these things so… mind helping me?"
The look they gave each other really had you confused—they were almost surprised with your request.
"Okay, I see how it i—"
"No! We can help, of course. We just… wondered how many other cars we have to repair, you know?" The taller one said, not-so-gently nudging the other one as if he wanted him to support his words.
The younger one jumped a little, smiling weakly as he nodded. "We got it!"
You still couldn't figure if they were honest or not, but you just went with it and let them handle your car as you went to the receptionist to book a room.
Tumblr media
The morning came with fast steps as you woke up due to some noisy sounds from outside, disturbing your already not-so-great sleep. You yawned and looked outside the window, seeing how the two mysterious guys were carrying things in their garage. They were getting more and more suspicious, so you grabbed your jacket and went downstairs to see the process. Your car seemed to be intact, they actually put some effort into changing the color of it too into a matte one, which you weren't opposing to at all.
"Is it done yet?"
They looked at you, both trying to cover the car as much as they could as you were approaching it.
"No! Don't touch it! Go eat and then you can come see it." the one with the purple highlights said once again. "Oh, and we're Jongho and Yunho, by the way." He said, a gummy smile taking over his face as you nodded softly and introduced yourself.
As soon as you left the room, they sighed.
"We're screwed. We are supposed to be undercover policemen, not mechanical engineers!" Jongho scolded Yunho, as the oldest sighed softly.
"Then go and tell her this! I actually think we even did a great job… Even our parrot agrees."
"We'll see about that. And let’s hope she doesn’t call the police on us!"
Said and done. You came from the little diner, looking at your now covered car. It seemed promising.
"Tadaaaaa! Here is your car, fresh and new." Yunho said, taking the sheet off of your shiny car.
"Thank you so much guys! Money won't thank you enough for that." you went and excitedly opened the car's door, only for something heavy to drag you down slowly—it was the car's door.
"...I guess no money for us," Jongho said, head down in shame as he couldn't look you in the eyes. "I told you, stupid."
You were still in shock as the door was now standing on the ground, looking at the two boys. "Mind telling me what’s this about?"
"This… is not our job, Y/n, we're sorry for lying to you." Yunho said, trying to reach for you but you went outside, leaving them to wallow in self pity.
This was all because of your stupid companion, one that wasn’t even accompanying you right now, when you needed him the most. You threw your hair back in frustration, going around the busy streets you didn’t even know. It kept getting darker, and the few houses you saw were not giving you any comfort. You were in trouble, in a run down neighborhood you wouldn't even dream of. A blue-haired guy showed up at some point, and as crazy as you must have looked, you followed him into an alley. When you saw him suspiciously entering a back door; you rushed inside just before it could close. The inside was lit by some yellow lights and you swore you could hear loud cheers coming from the basement. You went to the first door you saw and opened it, forgetting about the personal space for just a while, until you saw a long-haired brunette surrounded by money. Oh, and having a rolled-up bill between his teeth. If you weren't in need of help, you would exit the door as fast as you entered it. Feeling that someone was staring at him, he looked in your direction and raised an eyebrow when he saw your unfamiliar face, putting the money in the bag and hiding it under his desk as fast as he could.
"Robbery?" he asked, eyes continuously on the money bag you were amazed of.
"Listen, dude. I'm lost in this hell of a district, my car is screwed by two liars and I just want to find a way back and go home. My last intention is to rob you."
He wore an unfazed look on his face, almost like he didn't understand a thing of what you said; he was getting on your nerves more.
"Also, what kind of people ask someone if they are gonna rob them? And how the fuck do you have so much money?"
He smirked as soon as you mentioned the money—if you looked close enough, you could almost see the dollar signs in his eyes.
"If you wanna know how, I can show you right now. Follow me."
What did you have to lose? You were already lost in your thoughts, you didn't have the energy to say no—so you followed him. As soon as you got inside the room, you noticed the pleasing decorum, but also the fighting ring in the middle of it. And after you took some time to look around and take in the new surrounding, your eyes met his.
"Sa—"
Before you could even finish anything, he was on the floor, mouth full of blood as your eyes widened, wondering what the fuck he was doing there—the one who made you get lost, the one who brought you there. Before you could speak again, you saw the money guy hurry in San's direction, as he got seated on a chair, an exhausted and hurt look on his face.
"What the fuck got you that distracted? You literally let him hit you!"
"Wooyoung… her… protect her…" he raised his hand weakly, finger pointing to you.
"Ha? Her? You know the mysterious I got lost girl?"
"That girl is my sister, Wooyoung!"
Oh.
"Shhh, calm down. Don't waste your energy. C'mon, drink a bit of water, and go back on the ring." he said, splashing half of the water bottle on your brother's face while trying to look unaffected. I didn't sign up for this, he thought, though there was nothing he could have done—they really needed the money.
The cheers only got louder when San returned to the ring, while you tried to make your way in the crowd, squinting your eyes to see something between the pink hair strands of a tall man in front of you.
"You stole my place." you turned back to face a built man, anger visible on his face as you blocked his view—and stole his place.
Words got stuck in your throat as you swallowed the lump inside of it, anger getting over your senses. "What did you just say?"
"I said that you stole my place and that I expect you to go back!" he raised his voice more and your eyes shut together, your fist ready to throw a punch, before you felt a strong arm dragging you behind them—the brunette again.
“She’s with me." he growled, dragging you next to him as you were worriedly looking at your brother. "You're going to have to win double the amount of money for this, San." he mumbled.
Another hit on the ring and he was completely out of it, the three seconds passing and the bells letting the public know who the winner was—and much to his friend's disappointment, it wasn't San.
"No way. No way this is happening. He lost because of you!" he pointed at you, hitting his chair with his foot until it fell down.
You were already overwhelmed by everything you witnessed, tears beaming at the corners of your eyes as your brother came to the two of you.
"Stop trying to control everything and just let go. Let go, Wooyoung! For once!" he said, tiredness audible in his voice as his breath was hitched and slow.
"That's my job, San. And you were supposed to help me, help us." All Wooyoung could do after this was frown, before he left the building to go get some air.
You looked at your brother and dragged him somewhere far from the looks of the curious ones, hitting his chest slightly.
"What the fuck are you doing here, San? Is this the traveling you loved? Is that what our parents would have wanted you to become?"
He looked down, avoiding your stare as he couldn't look at you.
"Why didn't you tell me you needed money?! I would have gotten a job to help you!"
That's when his eyes met yours, finally hearing his voice in the two days you've been separated.
"The first rule of Fight Club…" he started, his gaze becoming stern: "… is you don’t talk about Fight Club.”
He genuinely annoyed you.
"And what are you doing here in the first place?"
"I was trying to find a way to cope with everything that happened after my brother left me so he could go fight some random people."
Auch. That hurt worse than a kick, he sighed.
"I'm sorry, Y/n… C'mon, you can stay with me from now on."
You didn't want to give in, you couldn’t imagine yourself having to stand Wooyoung's tantrums, yet it was better than wandering alone in an unknown city—so, you did what you thought was right and listened to your brother. And maybe staying so much with him (and his friend you won't talk about), watching his matches, that might have opened new horizons for you. You were now having dinner with them, clearing your voice before letting it be heard.
"You know… I wanna join the Fight Club too." you said softly, waiting for any sort of reaction from them; and there were two different ones—Wooyoung's eyes lit up immediately as he saw more money coming his way, whilst San was looking terrified.
"No."
"Yes!"
They said in unison, glaring at each other.
"I'm not letting her join this, it's dangerous, Woo!"
Wooyoung seemed to absolutely ignore the boy as he smiled at you, the first time you have seen him smiling outside of matches San won.
"I will help you become the best fighter out here. We're starting tomorrow!"
All you could do was smile excitedly as San face-palmed himself.
Tumblr media
Said and done. You were already one month into practicing, and Wooyoung kept on finding matches for you, the next one being in two days. You were inside the little space he claimed as your training room, punching the innocent punching bag as you heard the door behind you. You thought it was Wooyoung and smirked, turning to face him and kicking, only for your fist to stop right in front of your brother's face.
"Oh… hey San." you smiled innocently whilst all he could do was sigh.
"If you don't get along with Wooyoung, why do you keep on doing this? I didn't even agree!"
You looked at him, deciding to ignore the judging look he threw your way. "I think I am capable of making my own decisions and I sure as hell don’t need my brother to make them for me."
"Do you think our parents would be proud that their daughter chose this path?"
This time, you snapped.
"Maybe you should have thought about this before choosing it first. You are my only role model, San, what do you expect from me?"
"I'm sorry, babes. If that's what you really want… I promise I will support you. But please take care." he said, arm wrapping around your waist as he dragged you into a hug. You hugged him back, the nice feeling of longing surrounding you—before a fake cough snapped you out of it.
"Sorry to interrupt your brother-sister moment, but you're distracting her."
"So now I can't spend time with my sister?"
"Not when she has a match coming. Also, she's getting as good as you. I won the lottery with you, guys."
You smiled at his praise, though he seemed to have something else in mind.
"I didn't like you at first, you know?" he said, looking directly into your eyes.
"I know, it was mutual." you said, a cheeky grin taking over your face as you waited for his response.
"Don't get too excited, I still don't like you. But I like the money you bring." he winked, watching as San's eyes darkened.
"Wooyoung," he growled, "if you think I'd let you talk to my sister like this, you're wrong. We're not your fucking bank!"
Wooyoung flinched a bit at his friend's words, pulling his glasses on his nose and trying to act unaffected when, in fact, he wasn't. Since you joined, he found himself thinking if he was doing the right thing, if you two thought he used you for money—which San kinda confirmed; but he couldn't let these emotions take over him, so he did what he thought was best—left.
He left and you two didn't see him again. Match time was right there and he was nowhere to be seen; and as much as you wanted to lie and act indifferent about it, you kinda missed his antics, his nag, perhaps you missed him. This was maybe, the reason why as soon as you stepped into the ring, you started to have an uneasy feeling. He wasn't there to support you, to hype you up, and it left you with a bitter taste. Despite this feeling, you still tried your best. Tried to avoid your rival's hits, tried hitting more, and you actually thought you were gonna win. That was until you spotted the pair of ebony-like eyes you waited for, being the last thing you saw before everything turned black.
That wasn't the sight Wooyoung expected to be welcomed with. He forgot about the two police officers behind him, running straight to the ring and following San who jumped inside immediately.
"Stop hitting her! Stop fucking hitting, she passed out!" he shouted, shoving the person off you, just to discover it was exactly the reason why the cops were there.
"Yunho, Jongho, it's him!"
Before he could do anything, San pushed both of them and took you in his arms, running to the infirmary as fast as he could. Yunho and Jongho were fast to catch the guy before he could run away, whilst Wooyoung was quick to follow San, who let you on the bed while waiting for the nurse.
"San!" he said, catching his breath as the eyes of the older one sent ice arrows down his spine.
"Don't you dare get closer to us! She was your responsibility Wooyoung, you were supposed to take care of her!" he said, hands on Wooyoung's shirt as he shaked the younger.
"I know San, I fucking know I fucked up! But her rival… he was following you San, I had to let Jongho and Yunho know that you were in danger… I wanted to protect you two…"
"I don't care about myself, Wooyoung. I only care about her and you failed. You failed us and our trust as well."
Maybe it took some harsh words for Wooyoung to realise that he put you in danger, and that he actually cared about you. About his friend, and unexpectedly, about his friend's sister as well.
"San… I'm sorry, please give me one more chance! I'll be more careful and—"
"She's out of this, Wooyoung. We are out of your damn Fight Club."
Wooyoung looked down, tears beaming at the corners of his eyes as he couldn't blame you. He just wanted to get closer with you, heck, he might have been attracted to you all this time—yet look where ignoring his emotions took him.
"You have my number if you change your mind, San."
And with this, he turned in the opposite direction, preparing to leave again. He wanted to be there when you wake up, he was aware that he distracted you when he came in way too late to your match. He wanted to hold your hand and start being there for you, but San was right. He didn't deserve none of you. His wish for money made him realise what he was truly lacking—love.
"San," you whispered, your weak voice being heard by both boys in the room: "San, you were too harsh… He wanted to protect you…"
Wooyoung's heart swelled a bit at your words, ignoring San's warning and sitting on the bed next to you. Right when your brother wanted to tell him to leave, his best friend was faster.
"I'm sorry I was late to your match, Y/n. I wish I was there for you."
"It's okay, Wooyoung. I wish I did better."
"No, Y/n! I'm proud of you nonetheless. You two are already the best for me."
Seeing Wooyoung hug you made San's anger dissipate into the void, joining as one hand caressed your hair and the other one patted his friend's back softly.
Your bond became even stronger after that day. While you met their friends (the ones who screwed your car) and realised how nice they actually were, your feelings for Wooyoung also grew stronger. You thought it was the same for him. The way his hand would softly brush yours, the random forehead and cheek kisses you were given, they had to mean something. And there you were now, plopped on a blanket as the night sky was shining above you.
"Isn't it pretty?" you asked him, looking at his flawless face and brushing his long hair with your fingers.
"It would have been even prettier if I watched it with my girlfriend."
Your heart remained still.
"Your girlfriend…? Do you have one?"
"Not yet, but I am about to. I know it's been quite of a long ride for us, but I'm deeply in love with you. And I know you feel the same, Yunho told me."
You looked at him flabbergasted, hands stopping on their track as he dragged you on top of him. You didn't know if you should be mad at Yunho, or glad that he eased the situation.
"Pfft, do you really believe Yunho? What if he lied?" you teased, grabbing his cheek softly as he looked at your lips.
"Well, let me figure it out." he said, before his soft lips met yours.
You closed your eyes and enjoyed the moment, smiling a bit when his nose brushed your own.
"Thank you for making me realise that love is more powerful than money, babe." he whispered, "I'm still going to be San's manager. And you are going to help me."
You nodded, pressing a kiss on his chin as you laid your head on his chest.
Tumblr media
San's next match was going to be interesting. Ten minutes before it started, yet nor you or Wooyoung were anywhere to be found. He was searching for you with a water bottle in his hand, tank top tight on his chest as his muscles flexed under it.
"Wooyoung? Y/n? Where the fuck are you?"
As he stepped further into the darkened hallway, he heard your giggles and sighed—he was already growing tired of how big of a menace you were as a couple.
"For God's sake, can you stop making out and come watch me? I have a match to win!"
You and Wooyoung could only laugh harder as your brother sighed for the nth time that day, but it soon became a chorus of joyful giggles as he joined you two.
"We're coming!"
The Princess and The Tool
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ repair man!Simon Riley x curvy!Y/N
₊˚ପ⊹ Warnings: None other than Simon’s just a man, and his thoughts start to wander.
₊˚ପ⊹ Part 1
₊˚ପ⊹ Word count: 2.5k
₊˚ପ⊹ Summary: Y/N and her best friend have finished unpacking in their new apartment. However, in the span of two months, more and more problems have occurred. Simon Riley is one of the several repair men in the area, and he’s sent over as a last resort to provide the solutions.
➽──────────────❥
Y/N was the most independent woman known to her family and friends. She was headstrong, had an incredible work ethic, and always looked after those who were close to her. As the youngest of two children, she took it upon herself to learn valuable life skills rather than wait until she was older. While her childhood wasn’t like what she had seen in movies and tv shows, Y/N never lost hope.
Y/N and her best friend, Luna, have known each other since freshman year of high school, and their friendship was nearing a decade. They were now in their early twenties, and they decided to proceed with their plan of moving together into their first apartment.
Although, Y/N had noticed a couple of things that seemed kind of worrying. She soon realized that the previous owner hadn’t taken great care of it when they lived there. A singular step on the staircase wasn’t properly bolstered, which led to the poor woman getting her foot stuck in the hole. She fell forward with a loud bang, and silence fell upon her roommate and herself.
“Are you still alive?” Luna joked as she stared at her best friend’s fallen body at the top of the staircase. Luckily, Y/N wasn’t injured judging by the laugh of disbelief that fell from her lips.
The worst of them was when the breaker shut off and neither of them were home. Y/N urged Luna to send a work order to the people in charge of repairs. The following week, the first man to check the breaker was no help whatsoever. He stared at the breaker for five minutes, shrugged at Luna, and left.
So Y/N sent a message herself, which was taken more seriously than her roommate’s. Little did she know who would be the one to come to the rescue.
➽──────────────❥
Y/N and Luna were planning on how to spend their afternoon together. Unbeknownst to either of them, there was a man parked outside of the apartment and sitting on a golf cart. Luna had her back turned to him, phone nestled between her cheek and shoulder as she locked the door. She almost walked past him until he called out to her, which pulled her attention to him. She put her phone against her chest, startled and embarrassed that she actually didn’t see him.
“I’m so sorry! I had no idea you were waiting here!” Luna’s face was reddened with a deep blush as she apologized profusely. The man chuckled in response, not really offended by her reaction. It sent an unexpected shiver down her spine. “S’alright. I tried callin’ ya, but I’m glad I caught ya before ya left.” He had a thick English accent, and his voice only caused her blush to worsen.
He rose to his feet, easily towering over her, the lower half of his face adorned with a scar running across his lips and chin. Like the other maintenance men that arrived at their apartment before him, he wore the standard uniform. Khaki shorts that hugged his muscular thighs, a standard cobalt blue uniform t-shirt that stretched tightly around his broad chest, and he had short cropped blonde hair. On his left arm, he had a full sleeve of black and white tattoos.
A few seconds later, Y/N drove up to the empty parking spot and turned off the car engine. Her eyes widened at the welcome sight of the repair man standing in front of her roommate. She got out of her car, making sure to lock the doors more than once as she made her way over. “Hello! We didn’t know what time you would be here, so we figured we would go for a little shopping trip.” Y/N explained as she waved to him with a warm smile.
In the back of his mind, Simon thought that he was lucky to be around two beautiful women. But that wasn’t the reason why he was outside of their shared apartment this morning. “Oh? Well, name’s Simon Riley, and I hope tha’ I can help you ladies with any issues.” He introduced himself, and gently shook Y/N’s much smaller hand. “I’m Y/N, and she’s Luna. She’s my best friend/roommate.” She replied in kindness, and her roommate smiled up towards Simon.
He shook Luna’s hand as well, the soft crow’s feet by his eyes crinkling with a wide smile of his own. “It’s a pleasure to meet you both.” With introductions were out of the way, Simon followed the two of them inside the apartment. He also noticed their similar styles. Y/N wore black spandex that stopped mid-thigh with a baggy t-shirt, and black Nike slides. Luna, on the other hand, wore ripped denim shorts, a black video game t-shirt, and black combat boots.
“My roommate told me that when she came home, everything was turned off.” Y/N began to explain as she stood against the wall adjacent to the circuit breaker. “We have no idea why or how the breaker tripped when neither of us were home.” Luna added with a shrug and watched Simon turn on his flashlight.
He nodded in acknowledgement of their concerns then rolled his eyes at the mention of his co-worker not being any help whatsoever. He wasn’t surprised, but he was glad that he had the opportunity to prove he was more experienced. “So it turns out that there’s a loose screw. Chances are that it was caused by the storm we had recently.” Simon concluded as he switched off his flashlight and sighed.
Y/N and Luna looked at each other, the both of them silently communicating before laughing. “That’s it? Just a loose screw?” Luna asked mid giggle, and Y/N laughed a bit harder. “And here we thought that we were going crazy.” Luna shook her head before sighing softly. Y/N soon calmed down then noticed how Simon’s gaze lingered on her. She cleared her throat, straightening her posture and tilting her head slightly to the side with a smile.
Simon quickly tore his eyes away, cursing at himself for getting distracted by a gorgeous woman who was clearly younger than him. “Was there anything else that you needed help with?” He asked Luna, who nodded and was aware of how he stared at Y/N. “Yeah, the paint is peeling off in her bathroom, and there’s like, mold in the corner of my bathtub.” She replied, glancing at her best friend for confirmation.
“Also, one of the stairs at the top has the carpet lifting.” Y/N added, which caused Simon to furrow his brows. The more he learned about the negligence of his co-workers, the more disappointed he became. “She got her foot caught in the hole and fell on her face.” Luna piped up, and Simon’s eyes widened. “What? You fell?” His scarred lips morphed into a sneer, but it wasn’t directed towards either of the women.
How dare the other repair men be so careless? They should’ve done a routine check before approving that everything was safe. Especially with two sweet women who just moved into their very first apartment. Simon’s intense glare could’ve burned a hole in the floor.
“I’ll show you where exactly the paint is peeling.” Y/N walked past Simon, and he caught a whiff of her perfume. It suited her perfectly; there were notes of vanilla, sandalwood, and peony. Soft, feminine, and certainly alluring as he followed after her up the stairs. He couldn’t stop himself from staring at her hands that were covering her ass out of courtesy. A part of him wished he was able to see it jiggle with every step she took.
Y/N claimed the master bedroom for herself. It was spacious; the king size bed was against the furthest wall from the door, a singular window with grayish-blue and sheer curtains was on the right side of the bed, the tv was mounted on the opposite side, and there was a shelf that served as a temporary night stand. A very simple setup for Y/N until she bought more furniture.
She turned on the light in the bathroom, and Simon was right behind her. Y/N had chosen to go with a black and white aesthetic. The shower curtain had a deep green leaf print, and there was also a toilet overhead shelf. Facing the toilet were matching black fluffy towels, and two checkerboard print hand towels side-by-side. It almost a tight fit with his bigger stature taking up most of the space.
“I didn’t really think of it as a big deal at first,” Y/N pointed at the top of the tile wall next to the shower head. “But I did want to have it redone before it could peel even more.” Her lips formed a soft pout, and Simon had to fight the urge to stare at them.
He had to stand behind Y/N, and the smell of her perfume filled his nostrils again. “I see. I’ll have it lookin’ brand new, I promise.” His voice rumbled in his chest as he leaned closer to assess where the paint was coming off.
But it was impossible to stop his mind from wandering. Simon pictured her covered in bubbles as she bathed. Her skin glistened from the warm water, aromatics wafted in the air, and her sultry gaze met the hunger brewing behind his eyes. Her hand slid down her soapy tits and disappeared underneath the water. Her plump lips parted to moan out his name as her back arched in pleasure.
What pulled him out of his naughty fantasy was when Y/N lost her footing leaning too far over the tub. She yelped in surprise, and his fast reflexes caught her before she fell. They stayed like that, his thick strong arms wrapped firmly around her waist to keep her upright. Y/N’s heart was pounding in her ears, and she had to ignore where his fingers were gently pressing into her skin through her t-shirt.
“Careful, love,” he whispered in her ear. “Wouldn’t want you hurting tha’ pretty head o’ yours.” Y/N would’ve melted right then and there if it weren’t for Simon supporting her weight. It was both amazing and flattering that he wasn’t struggling to hold her up.
“Thank you, Simon.” She whispered back, her voice slightly trembling as he carefully helped her stand on her feet again. “You’re welcome, princess.” He chuckled at the sight of her adorable blush. Y/N wasn’t sure how to recover mentally and emotionally from what just happened.
Luna eventually came upstairs to check on them, and with one look on Y/N’s face, she immediately put the pieces together. “So… will you be able to start painting the wall today?” Luna spoke up after a few moments of awkward silence passed. Simon’s mind was reeling as he turned to the other woman, and his hands were itching to feel Y/N again. “I’d have to come back on another since I don’t have the right tools with me. But let me take a look at your tub.”
They then left Y/N’s room, went down the stairs, and made their way to Luna’s bathroom. Compared to the Y/N’s bathroom, hers was an all blue aesthetic. Beside the tub was a soft navy blue bath mat. Luna’s shower curtain had a continuous pattern of navy blue teardrops in the form of circles. She pulled the shower curtain to the right, revealing her personal hygiene care and the corner with mold buildup.
“I noticed it a couple of days ago, but I couldn’t clean it off.” Luna gestured to the left corner of the bathtub next to the faucet. Simon’s eyes followed the direction of where she was pointing, and he understood why she felt somewhat frustrated. “Not even the scrub daddy could remove whatever that is.”
“It shouldn’t take me too long to caulk and re-paint that corner.” Simon reassured her, his hand pulling out his phone from his pocket to take a picture the mold. “I’ll care take of this on my next availability before moving up so I can re-paint your wall, too.” He said to Y/N after standing up to his full height. It was almost comical how he looked so out of place in Luna’s bathroom. Almost. If he wanted, he could have Y/N pinned against the wall and keep her there until he was done with her.
Simon waited for the roommates to leave the bathroom first, making sure to turn the light off as he walked away. “Alright,” he began once they gathered in the kitchen. “Just to be clear—replace the breaker, paint the bathroom wall, re-caulk the bathtub corner, and fix the stair. Does that sound right to you ladies?” Y/N and Luna nodded at the same time, pleased to hear that Simon remembered what needed to be taken care of.
“Yup! I don’t think there’s anything else.” Y/N beamed at Simon, and he swore he felt his chest tighten. She was beautiful, had a wonderful personality, and now she would plague his thoughts from now on. “Good, good. I’ll start on the breaker, so I won’t keep you waiting too long.” He turned around to leave, closing the front door behind him.
Luna waited until his footsteps receded and that he was out of earshot. “Girl, we got a man who knows what he’s doing. And he’s attractive!” Luna softly gushed to Y/N, and they both giggled. “His tattoos and arms, though? I’d let him put me in a chokehold any day.” Y/N rolled her eyes with a smile at her best friend’s comments. She recalled the moment when he had her in his tight embrace. Simon truly was a good-looking man despite his height and scars.
Half an hour later, Simon returned and finished replacing the breaker with an entirely new one. He took a step back to ensure that it wasn’t loose on any side, and nodded in satisfaction. “Yeah, tha’ should do it.” He hummed, pleased with himself for completing the task. Y/N and Luna were also pleased that he knew what he was doing—unlike his co-workers. “Like I mentioned earlier,” Simon spoke as he shut the breaker door, “I’ll come back to re-caulk and re-paint in both of your bathrooms.”
“Would it be possible for you to come in the morning? I’ll be available, but Y/N has work at night.” Luna questioned him as they all hovered near the now open front door. The women could tell that his visit was ending soon, and they were grateful for his help. “I can be here at ten o’clock sharp.” Simon readily agreed to her request, but a part of him was disappointed that he’d miss out on seeing Y/N again. “I’ll also give you a call to let you know that I’m on my way.”
“Perfect! Thank you for your help, and I hope you have a great afternoon!” Y/N waved goodbye, her (e/c) eyes shining in the sunlight. Her smile must be protected at all costs, kept away from the evil of the world. Simon returned the gesture before he winked at her. “No problem, love. Likewise.” And with that, he got into his golf cart then drove away.
Y/N and Luna stood in the doorway, completely shell-shocked by what unfolded. “What just happened?” Y/N whispered to her best friend, who honestly didn’t have an answer. “I’m pretty sure he finds you attractive.” Luna replied before shutting the front door and locking it. “Oh, my god, he finds you attractive!” She squealed with excitement, gently shaking Y/N’s arm. “Don’t worry, I’ll tell you everything that happens tomorrow when you’re at work.” Luna promised her because that’s what good best friends do.
When Y/N gathered her once scrambled thoughts, she grabbed her purse from the kitchen island. “We’re going shopping, and you’re driving.” Luna let out a dramatic groan, but didn’t complain about being the designated driver. “Okay, let’s go.” She put her bag over her shoulder, took out her keys, and the two best friends left to do some retail therapy.
building feelings / tech x gn!reader
Tumblr media
pairing: tech x gn!reader (no y/n)
description: tech teaches you how to fix something on the marauder, and you've always admired him and his intellect.
word count: 1,819
warnings: none. tech is a sweetheart.
two fics in several days?!?! what?!? this is ANOTHER request from another lovely twitter mutual who asked for tech teaching the reader how to fix something on the marauder! i have never written for tech before but i had?? so much fun?? i loved writing his dialogue so much. i loved writing HIM. i hope you enjoy it!
disclaimer: i don't know anything about mechanics, let alone mechanics in the star wars universe. but i tried my best!
also posted this on ao3. feedback is welcomed, reblogs are appreciated.
Tumblr media
Your feet echoed as you came down the Marauder’s gangplank. Currently situated in a Tatooine landing bay, Clone Force 99 had made a quick stop between missions for repairs after being damaged in a firefight as they left nearby Christophsis. While the other members of the squad had been ordered by Hunter to gather and replenish their supplies from whatever vendors they could find, you and Tech had been ordered to stay with the ship. You, as their official GAR liaison and medic, and unofficial cheerleader, took stock of medical supplies and caught up on filling reports as Tech tinkered with the hull.
But having finished all your tasks, and the boys still weren’t back yet, you ventured out of the stuffy and slightly odorous Marauder, and out into the Tatooine sun that bathed the landing bay.
You heard the spark of a welding tool and the clattering of rummaging through the toolbox before you saw him. Rounding the corner, you found Tech with his back to you as he faced the open belly of the Marauder. His tall lean frame reached up to tighten a valve, and you watched his body strain with the movement, and you imagined his face was screwed up, an intense furrow on his brow and his jaw clenched. You felt your face heat up.
You would be lying if your heart didn’t flutter a little around Tech. There was something so endearing about his eagerness to share his knowledge, and his conviction in whatever he did. He was kind, even if he wasn’t actively trying to be. He excelled at anything he did, and most of all, he was a good brother. He cared so much about them, but in ways you had to look for. Modifying the ship so it performed the best it could, ensuring their safety when flying. Volunteering for the first watch and staying up extra late working on a project so they could get extra sleep. Researching anything they came across, so everyone was informed and no one got hurt. And more recently, enhancing Echo’s cybernetics so they were comfortable for him, and caused less strain and increased efficiency for his cerebral interface.
You knew that to Tech, these things were just things he did. But once you noticed, it wasn’t hard to see the care and love behind them.
“Hey, Tech,” you called out to him as you approached.
Tech turned around and met your gaze. He greeted you with your name.
“How’s it going?” you asked.
“Quite well. Though more systems were damaged than the initial diagnostic detected, everything is fixable. I have even increased the efficiency of the power flux stabilisers, so there is less strain on hyperdrive priming and more output for faster ignition.”
You smiled at him and moved to sit on a crate. You only partially understood what he was saying. “That’s good to hear.”
Tech nodded and resumed his work. You watched him, fascinated. His aptitude for engineering of any kind was admirable. Though you weren’t techno-illiterate – you could work a datapad and fly a ship, you knew nothing about mechanics beyond recognising the names of things. Tech always knew exactly what parts were what and how to use them, which tool to take to them. You could stitch up wounds, but this was different. He could build things – pull together seemingly complicated and unrelated components to make something tangible and operational.
“How can you remember what part is what? And how to fix it?” you asked after a stretch of silence.
Tech stopped and looked at you. “My genetic enhancements are increased intellect and aptitude for technology.”
“I know, but how do you remember it all? How do you have space for it up there?” You tapped your temple with a curious smile.
You could see gears turning in his head as his hands stilled. “I’m not sure I understand the question…I just simply do.”
Tech put down the Harris wrench in the box and met your gaze, which must’ve been furrowed pensively at his vagueness because then he picked up a calibrator and continued talking as he turned back to the ship.
“Though increased neuron capacity and information processing factor into my abilities, I still had to learn; to form a basis of knowledge that could be built upon as my understanding of concepts grew. I wasn’t born knowing the schematics of a T1 Hyperdrive and how to wire its various transmitters.”
You tittered but listened as he turned back and placed the calibrator away.
“However, we all have our aptitudes. The same way you know all the ways a body works, and how to fix them – I know all the ways machines work, and how to fix them.”
You smiled at his words. “I suppose you’re right.”
He twirled a tool between his fingers. “I often am.”
You grinned, meeting his honey-eye gaze behind his goggles. Tech’s mouth turned up at the corners slightly before turning away again, the open hull engulfing him as he rewired something. He suddenly stopped, head lifting up and turning to you with a thoughtful look.
“What?” you frowned in concern.
“Come here.”
Your frown deepened and you pushed yourself off the crate, moving closer to him. He guided you closer with a hand to the small of your back, and you brushed up against him as he maneuvered you to stand in front of him. Your face flushed and you were very glad he couldn’t see it.
“These are the wires to the power couplings that syphon power from the auxiliary engines to the main thrusters,” he told you, his gloved fingers running along the four coloured wires in front of you slowly.
You look up at him slightly confused before nodding. “Okay?”
Tech pointed and ran the tip of his finger over one of the wires. “See how one is slightly more charred than the others?”
You swallowed and nodded.
“That wire has short-circuited, causing lag when the Marauder accelerates because three wires are doing the job of four. What do you think will happen to the other wires if we don’t fix the short?”
You looked back at him, frown increasing. “I thought you knew all about this?”
Tech raised an amused brow at you. “I do. I am teaching you.”
“Oh!” Your cheeks flamed and butterflies swooped in your stomach. Embarrassed and nervous, you cleared your throat to answer his question. “Um, well I suppose if the other wires are being overworked, then they’ll short out too?”
“That is correct,” he nodded. “If wires transmit more power than their capacity, then not only can they short, but they can also degrade the ship’s performance.”
“Well, we can’t have that,” you joked lightly.
“No, we can’t. So, you’re going to help me rewire this one.”
Tech stepped away to grab a new wire from the case next to the toolbox, and your heart sped up, hands tingling with nervous energy.
“Are you sure? What if I do something wrong?”
Tech pushed his goggles up his nose. “You won’t. I’m an excellent teacher.”
And he was. He guided you through the process clearly, showing you the parts and the tools before he watched you use a micro-welder to fix the shorted wire.
“Keep it steady,” he said, placing a hand on yours, helping you move it across the ends of the wire. Your heartbeat quickened and your face heated up. His slender and dexterous hand engulfed yours, and you could feel the grooves of his white plastoid armour against your shoulder as his body brushed against you. If you leaned back, your back would meet his chest, and those dexterous hands of his might even steady you with a hold of your hips. You pushed the thoughts from your mind, doing everything you could to focus on the tool in your hand and not how close he was, and how easy it would be to get even closer.
“There,” Tech declared, removing his hand from yours. “That should do it.”
You cradled the tool to your chest, tightening your grip on it as he took a step back. You simultaneously felt cold and hot all over as you watched Tech grab his datapad, pressing a few buttons before hovering it over the length of the wire. “The diagnostic report shows that the wire is functional.”
You blinked in surprise. “I did it?”
“Of course, you did,” Tech adjusted his goggles. “With my excellent instruction and your intellect, changing a shorted wire is quite simple.”
Your chest tightened. “You think I’m smart?”
Tech paused for a moment before he started tapping the screen again. “You’re a proficient medic, that takes high levels of understanding.”
Your face stretched into a grin, warmth pooling in your stomach as your grip on the tool loosened. “You think I’m smart.”
Tech looked up at you before the corner of his mouth lifted impishly. “Well, perhaps not as smart as me.”
“I don’t think anyone is as smart as you, Tech,” you gave a lilted laugh, placing the micro-welder in the box with the other tools, feeling light inside. Tech’s smile was sort of everything…and to earn one was a privilege.
To be a witness to Tech in his most honest, comfortable form was not something experienced by many people outside of his brothers, and now, you too. You looked at him now, so engrossed in whatever the screen was telling him, and felt your heart swell and fall for him just a little more. You wanted to know why he decided to show you how to fix a shorted wire, but you didn’t want to ruin this moment by revealing feelings that may not be returned. So instead, you settled for:
“Thanks for showing me how to do that.”
His eyes slid to you before nodding and returning his gaze to the screen. “It is a useful skill to have. I’m happy to teach you whatever else you’d like to know.”
You took in a breath. Teaching you this was just another small thing to Tech, but it still showed how much he cared, just like everything else he did. “I’d like that,” you told him after a moment, your heart beating fast, even though you were sure he was just offering to be nice.
Tech’s hand stilled over his datapad before he fully looked up at you, a wrinkle in his brow that softened at your hopeful expression. Tech smiled again, his eyes shining behind those yellow-tinted goggles. And maybe it was just the Tatooine heat, but you could’ve sworn you saw the tips of his ears go pink before he adjusted his goggles and turned back to the Marauder, letting the mechanics envelop him again.
“The landing array needs recalibrating,” he said as he tugged on a part. “Shall I show you how to do that?”
You smiled at him. “Yes, please.”
thank you for reading! i have more requests to get through so i'll likely get through those in a couple of weeks!'
Late Night Repairs
In which the quiet becomes a bit too much for Mark to handle.
Tumblr media
Hi folks, I'm back for a little bit because I really wanted to participate in #spookyseasoninthebarrens2024 by @jmathesonandsiblings so I wrote this quick little thing for my baby girl, Mark! :3
This is for prompt 6: Haunted House
Happy Halloween, y'all 👻
Warnings: isolation, auditory/visual/tactile hallucinations, grief, fear/anxiety, hopelessness, brief discussion of sleep deprivation, description of someone suffering/dying from suffocation/asphyxia, discussion of death, eye horror, blood, missing loved ones, angst (technically). Please, please, please let me know if I missed anything that should be added to this list.
The soft beeps of the CO2 scrubber’s emergency alarm are deceptively loud and make Mark jump as it cuts through the impossibly still silence that comes with the night. One thing he still hasn’t gotten used to after being here for 23 days is how dead nighttime is on Mars. The increased thermal energy that comes with the sun usually yields soft winds that lightly rustle the HAB canvas and make small clouds of sand hit the airlock door, making it sound like he’s inside a rain stick. Once the sun sets though, an eerie silence creeps in with the sunset’s cold, blue, Mie-scattered light.
Maybe he’s just really missing having his crewmates with him, but he’s quickly started to hate the stillness that comes with living on a dead planet by himself. The more unsavory side effects of his isolation are much more unbearable--there’s something about not knowing when his solitude will end that makes the emptiness of his surroundings so much worse than the isolation training module he went through back on Earth. For the past few nights, every other corner he turns has an extra shadow he didn’t account for; the occasional puff of wind feels just a little too much like a hand and the whirring of the water reclaimer and heating unit running sounds devastatingly like a murmur. It was easier to ignore the first couple of nights--filling the silence as best as he could with episodes of Happy Days and Commander Lewis’s disco. Sometimes though--when he needs to charge his iPad or when he hyper-focuses on his work and forgets to turn something on to fill the space with more than the sounds of his breathing and the rustling of tools--his mind fills the void for him. Sometimes it’s a persistent ringing in his ears, others it’s a convincing recreation of Martinez’s laugh muffled by the walls of the HAB and his memory, making him tear through the HAB trying to find his friend only to be met with nothing but his loneliness.
He finishes typing out his log for the day, outlining the maintenance tasks he completed to keep his tragically high-tech tomb operational (if he’s gonna die here, he might as well do so warm and breathing clean air), and stands up out of his chair with a strained groan. Scratching at the stubble growing on his cheek, Mark walks across the main room of the HAB bubble to the complaining machine and takes off the white panel hiding the ducts, intake valves, and pumps of the robust Four Bed CO2 scrubber. The mechanical engineer takes some time listening to the motors and pressure-driven sounds of the machine, trying to locate a clue as to what part of the damn thing is blocked up this time. A soft whistle coming from the interface between the pre-cooler and a pipe connecting it to bed A-2 catches Mark’s attention, and he sees a small chunk of ice growing around the collar keeping the pipe in place at the valve.
“Well there’s your problem,” Mark utters under his breath as he turns the apparatus off using a panel immediately to the right of the box containing it and slips on a pair of cryo-gloves before touching the parts surrounding the cooling element, lightly dusting off the collection of ice crystals surrounding the collar before carefully removing it and cleaning the ice clogging the mouth of the duct. He re-mates the duct and the valve, torquing it back to a satisfying tension, and turns the machine back on, the pumps chugging away happily now that the blockage is gone.
Mark nods and puts the cover back onto the front of the scrubber’s casing before turning around to append a record of the repair to the end of his log. Or, he would if he wasn’t frozen in place staring out the porthole in the airlock door across the room from him. The scene outside is dark and barely perceivable due to the small diameter of the window and the contrast of the bright LED lights, but your piercing stare is something he’s profoundly accustomed to seeing--just… not outside the HAB’s airlock. He tries to move but the muscles in his legs merely twitch uselessly with the idea of walking towards the glass of the porthole. He tries to blink, but an impending sense of doom prevents him from attempting to break the unexpected eye contact. His heart clenches agonizingly in his chest, and he can feel the beginnings of a sob bubble up from his chest. Logically he knows this is a hallucination--likely made worse by stress and sleep deprivation--but that doesn’t stop him from calling out to you in a horse, pitiful squeak. His knees buckle slightly before the lights above him flicker and shut off, plunging him and the phantom image of you into near-full darkness.
 Your face is now only dimly illuminated by a light that didn’t go out at the center of the room, but it’s enough for Mark to see angry red petechiae begin to bloom across your face, lips, and the delicate skin surrounding your now blood-shot eyes. The warmth drains from your face and his ears begin to ring as he watches you open your mouth, frothy and bloody fluid pouring beyond your lips. He’s shaking now as he watches you scream silently at him through the fluid pouring down your chin, pins and needles accosting his hands and feet as he finally musters the strength to turn away from your dying, angry visage and squeeze his eyes shut.
“This--this isn’t real, there’s no one there…” he mutters to himself, tears streaming down his cheeks as he tries to calm his breathing down. He opens his eyes again to discover that the lights either turned back on or were never off in the first place and he starts to lower his hackles, the muscles in his neck and shoulders beginning to relax. Slowly, Mark turns back around and looks through the porthole to find nothing staring back at him. Mark lets out a relieved, shaky breath before running a hand down his face and walking back to his chair to update his log. Typing the details of his repair with shaking hands he begins to properly sob and has to pause, scooting the chair back and winding an arm around his middle, the other raised to clasp his hand over his mouth to try to stop himself from screaming in grief and fear at both what his brain just conjured up and the very real possibility of never seeing you again and leaving you behind to mourn him. The force of his anguish makes him fold in on himself and he continues to sit there, trying to calm himself down at least for long enough to finish his log and get to bed.
After a bit, he feels the temperature drop and a shiver shoots down his spine. He goes rigid and his sobs stop abruptly and a soft, high-pitched, and short-lived whistle coming from somewhere else in the HAB commands his attention. The same feeling of dread oozes back into his chest as he listens to faint taps sound from behind him, getting louder as whatever is creating them gets closer to his chair and stops, letting emptiness fill the soundscape of the main lab space. In the silence, Mark can hear the blood rushing in his ears and his shaky breathing. With his eyes closed it almost begins to feel like he’s in his space EVA suit back on the Hermes. The sound of his breathing tapers off as he quiets enough to hold his breath and try to listen for either the sounds of the HAB or anything that would alert him to the presence of… something, anything behind him. He’s about to let out his held breath when he feels shockingly cold fingers lightly wrap around the back of his neck, causing a terrified wail to rip out of his lungs as he stands up out of his chair and sees… nothing behind him.
Mark continues to stand and stare silently at the false wall behind him, raising a hand to touch the warm skin of the back of his neck and feeling goosebumps bloom across it. He basks in the violently loud silence before the tension is broken by the sound of the HAB’s temperature control unit letting out a shrill, piercing tone alerting him to a new malfunction in its system.
A Quick Cuddle - Part 2 - Tech
Ao3 Link
Part 1 - Wrecker - Tumblr Link & Ao3 Link
Part 3 - Hunter - Tumblr Link & Ao3 Link
Part 4 - Crosshair - Tumblr Link & Ao3 Link
Summary: Echo hugs Tech for the first time.
Words: 1186
Part of leaving the 501st to join with Clone Force 99 was always going to involve a sense of longing. Walking away from Rex that day had been one of the hardest decisions of his life. Regret wasn’t the word he’d use. He didn’t regret choosing to leave with the batch. It was one of the things that allowed him to move forward with newness and embrace what had changed without expectation of who he used to be. Regardless, he couldn’t help the way he missed people at times. Rex, Kix, Jesse, even Cody - who he saw more often than anyone else - all held space in his heart and their absence left him melancholic.
The downness had been worse that day. His new squad was good company most days but part of him truthfully wanted a good night surrounded by the broadness of the 501st, people he knew and trusted already. People that already knew him. It would shrink as time passed, that he knew, but that didn’t stop the ache as he entered the cockpit.
The only one sitting up, as he expected, was Tech. Tech was a constant. A variable that refused to change. He liked what he liked, said what he meant, and not a single moment went by when Echo didn’t feel completely and utterly accepted by him. Like another part of himself he found through sheer will and chance. Tech made his thoughts quiet so he thought it best to steal away in the cockpit until the urge to cry passed.
Tech was sitting in the pilot’s seat, a box of trinkets on the floor by his feet, and a screw driver held in his hand as he drilled away into a machine Echo didn’t recognize. A new scanner, perhaps, or a new invention altogether. Often Echo didn’t know what it was that Tech was working on, simple that he was. He took a seat in the empty chair, leaning back into it and staring at the blue of hyperspace as it sped past them. He’d always liked the way it moved, the way he could stare at it for hours and get lost in its glow. Beside him Tech rummaged through the box, pulling out an object with wires hanging out of its metallic body. He had to smile as Tech talked to himself, yanking out a wire before digging his tool into the empty socket. One day he’d hurt himself doing that then go right back to it again.
“What’re you up to?” Echo seemed to interrupt his squadmate’s thoughts as Tech jerked his head up towards the voice. He blinked then shook his head, finally opening his mouth.
“I am attempting to repair a power cell meant for one of the Marauder’s engines.” He pushed his goggles back up onto his nose. “My ship needs an upgrade and I have been far too busy to finish it.” He screwed something into the socket then cranked it to the side, several metal pieces falling out that were then scooped into his palm.
“Our ship, Tech.” Echo reminded, although he knew Tech wouldn’t hear him, not entirely. The entire reason he came to the cockpit was for distraction and now he’d set off a bomb. The man next to him rambled, falling into full detail of the upgrades needed and how he was accomplishing them. Several claims of ‘unseasoned mechanics’ and ‘superior design’ were made that Echo just shook his head at. Something about Tech’s voice always soothed him. This early on he wasn’t expecting to latch quite so fast but there was something about him that calmed the racing thoughts, quieted the anxiety that rested in his chest. The noise was appreciated. After Skako Echo found himself craving company, attention, more than he ever had before. The change hadn’t exactly been welcome, he’d always prided himself on a certain level of independence, but that had shifted along with many other things he was still growing comfortable with. If Fives were here he’d say Echo was always a ‘clinger’ but that was more about teasing him than anything else.
“Oh,” Tech held up his finger and  stood, drawing Echo’s attention.. He fished through the box then pulled out a gray square pad. A cord hung from it with a box at one end, a finished edge creating a plush box with little divots evenly spaced throughout. “Battery powered heating pad. I know your back hurts often and I thought, since we can’t continue having the heavier pain medication on hand, this would assist with your sleep cycle.” Echo looked from the little pad to Tech. He remembered him complaining about his back? He remembered the aches and the pains that plagued Echo each time he laid in one spot for too long. Not only that but he’d gone out of his way to create something that he could use wherever they were. Maybe he shouldn’t have been so surprised but he couldn’t help it. The idea that he’d taken up some sort of space in Tech’s mind was… well… nice. It made a warm spot glow in his chest, bright and airy. A grin split his face before he could hide it. He stood to take it, turning it around in his hands to feel the fibers. The plush fabric felt nice against his skin, no scratchiness detected.
“Thanks, Tech.” Echo shook his head, almost too overwhelmed to hide it. Words didn’t roll easily off of his tongue as his eyes started to sting. In an attempt to release the joy he felt he threw his arms around Tech’s neck, hugging him tightly. It felt like the right thing to do. The man seemed startled for a moment, rocking backwards then readjusting to account for Echo’s weight against him.
“Oh, physical contact. I see. You’re one of those.” Tech’s statement didn’t sound judgey but Echo could see how he may have crossed a line. He’d jumped in a little too quickly, didn’t warn Tech, so he pulled away to put an arm’s length of space between them. And Tech was a words guy. He spoke, he listened, but he didn’t initiate anything physical with Echo yet.
“I can let go if you want.” Echo started to drop his arms but Tech’s wound around his waist before he could step away, stepping forward to allow shared space again.
“No, this is acceptable. Proceed.” Tech said as he burrowed his face into Echo’s neck. It was much snugglier than he anticipated, a prickling on his skin where Tech’s warm breath hit his neck. Regardless, a sigh of relief left Echo in a contented huff, hugging back just as tightly as he did the first time.
Tech’s hugs were great. Perfectly snug enough to chase away whatever sadness he’d been feeling. It reminded him of the hugs Hevy used to give - very sweet and kind - but with a certain exactness that had him thinking Tech had somehow perfected hugs. Studied them, researched them. Something. Whatever it was, Echo wasn’t complaining.
That warm spot in his chest grew as his previous melancholy drifted away.
Eagle Clan's Transmission Towers
CRAZY THEORY TIME. You know how Noa is really smart and Kingdom shows him learning how electricity works? I see him becoming an engineer of sorts. Owen Teague even calls him an engineer in this interview.
This theory started because I was coming up with headcanons about how Noa could sketch his ideas for tools and inventions since he can't write, at least not yet. Kind of like Leonardo Da Vinci's drawings of machines. Here are some examples. These are probably too detailed and advanced, but this is just to give an idea as to what was going through my head for me to get from point A to point B.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I then tried looking up ideas as to how sketches of electricity would look like, and I got this very...simple picture. It wasn't what I was looking for, but then an idea hit me, and IT GOT ME BRAINSTORMING.
Tumblr media
Eagle Clan lives in old transmission towers, which were used by humans to transmit electrical power. Now hear me out, but what if Noa takes what he's learned about electricity and uses the transmission towers for this?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the scene right before Noa falls from the top of the tower, we see how he managed to grab onto one of the tower's cables. Then he watches as Sylva uses the electric staff to shock Noa through the cable.
Tumblr media
Noa is smart. I can see him putting two and two together and using the cables and transmission towers to have electricity running throughout Eagle Clan's home. While it could be for something as simple as light, I feel like maybe Noa could figure out how to use it in more innovative ways in like two or three years.
Think about what Noa says to Mae during their goodbye scene.
"We will rebuild our home. Better. Stronger. From what we have learned."
By better and stronger, he can mean how after the traumatic events Eagle Clan went through together, it will strengthen their bonds and they'll be more determined in looking out for one another.
It could also mean that Noa will take what he's learned when it comes to human technology and use it to rebuild and improve their homes. Not only would it be cool to see apes use technology, but it'll show how apes are starting to advance, which would be scary for humans.
Remember the deliberate look Mae gives Noa while watching him repair the electric staff. His intelligence scares her. Imagine you're a human and you see an ape village have functioning electricity in their homes. That'd be insane to witness.
(Before anyone who is an expert on transmission towers goes "well, actually," shush. This is science fiction, lol).
I also have thoughts on how some apes in Eagle Clan may not be so open to these changes and new ideas, but that is best for another post.
Ok, crazy theory time over!
Poe dameron x reader
If you want to support me, feel free to check this out 💕:
https://ko-fi.com/settings?tab=profile
————————————————————————
“Poe, you’re insufferable, you know that?”
You tossed a wrench toward the X-wing as Poe crouched down, inspecting the charred remains of his stabilizer. His face was smeared with grease, his usual cocky grin firmly in place.
“Insufferable, but still your favorite pilot.” He winked, catching the wrench effortlessly.
“Not if you keep wrecking my ships.”
Poe stood, brushing his hands off on his jumpsuit before strolling over, his expression softening. “Our ships,” he corrected, leaning slightly closer. “And I didn’t wreck it. I tested its limits. There’s a difference.”
You rolled your eyes, stepping back to the pile of spare parts. “You’re lucky Leia likes you. If it were up to me—”
“You’d still patch me up, admit I’m the best pilot in the galaxy, and maybe, just maybe, let me steal a kiss.” His voice dropped an octave, teasing but unmistakably sincere.
“You’ve got some nerve, Dameron.”
“Comes with the territory, sweetheart.”
The hangar was buzzing with activity. Resistance engineers and pilots hustled around, preparing for the next mission. The First Order wasn’t resting, and neither were you. Between repairing ships, running diagnostics, and dodging Poe’s relentless charm, your days were full.
Your relationship with Poe had always been one of banter and chaos. You’d met long before the Resistance days, back when he was just a reckless pilot with a dream too big for the galaxy. Somewhere between yelling at him for his stunts and patching up his scrapes, you’d fallen for him. And now, years later, he was yours—cockiness, charm, and all.
But even the best relationships had their moments. Like when Poe decided to crash his X-wing into an asteroid field during a routine scouting mission.
“You’re replacing the stabilizer this time,” you called over your shoulder, pulling wires from the damaged panel.
“You love doing this. Admit it.”
You spun to face him, hands on your hips. “Poe, if you don’t stop smiling like that, I swear—”
“What? You’ll kill me? That’s not very loving.”
“Loving? You’re lucky I haven’t throttled you already!”
Poe stepped closer, his grin shifting to something softer. “You wouldn’t. You love me too much.”
Your silence was enough of a confirmation.
Later that evening, the hangar was quiet. Most of the crew had gone to their bunks, leaving you alone with the soft hum of droids and the faint glow of lights. You were sitting cross-legged on the ground, surrounded by scattered tools and spare parts, still working on the stabilizer.
You didn’t hear him approach until you felt his arms wrap around your waist from behind. His warmth enveloped you, his chin resting on your shoulder.
“Poe—”
“Shh,” he murmured. “Just... let me hold you.”
You hesitated for a moment, the weight of his presence melting away your frustration. His grip tightened slightly, pulling you closer.
“You’re impossible,” you whispered, leaning back into him.
“And yet, you’re still here.” His voice was softer now, laced with something deeper.
“I should’ve let you crash years ago.”
“But then who would keep you company in this freezing hangar?” He kissed your temple gently.
“Someone quieter.”
“Boring.”
You laughed despite yourself, turning slightly to look at him. His eyes were fixed on you, full of something that made your chest tighten.
“Why do you look at me like that?” you asked.
“Because you’re everything.”
Your breath caught, but before you could respond, he leaned in, capturing your lips in a kiss that was somehow both gentle and overwhelming.
Later, tangled together on the floor of the hangar under the dim lights, you traced lazy patterns along his chest. His fingers played with a strand of your hair, his expression uncharacteristically soft.
“You know, if you keep pulling stunts like today, I might actually throttle you one day,” you teased.
“Worth it,” he replied, smirking.
“Poe—”
“I mean it. Every crash, every argument, every late-night repair session. Worth it, as long as I get to end up here, with you.”
You rolled your eyes, but the warmth in your chest betrayed you. “You’re such a sap.”
“Admit it, you love me.”
You leaned up, pressing a kiss to his jaw. “Maybe.”
He grinned. “That’s good enough for me.”
As you both got dressed, Poe suddenly stopped, looking at you with that mischievous glint in his eye.
“Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“Next time you threaten to kill me, can you at least wear that flight suit? You know, the one with the—”
“Poe!”
“What? Just trying to make my inevitable demise worth it.”
You threw a wrench at him, missing by inches.
“Love you too, sweetheart!” he called, running out of the hangar.
Off that perch ( Natasha trace x Female!Reader)
Tumblr media
Summery : After some advice from rooster and jake y/n mitchell ask nat out to lunch only she thinks it just a friendly outing meaning y/n need to make it more special and clear the air or will she back down and stay on the perch of friendship .
warning : miscommunications , goofy fun , rom com vibes .
They stood peaking in the door , like a bunch of children trying to catch adult conversation  , whispering to each other . That how rooster and phoenix found the famous dagger squad rolling their eye at the childish scene but peaked in nonetheless wanting to see what was so big , what was so interesting .  there she was at mav side as he was explaining something and pointing to the jets as the womans head nodded  or when cyclone said something and she began pointing at the other side of the room and the two men now nodding to whatever she said .  the three looking around only to spot the group standing there looking like deers caughting headlights .
“ dagger squad come meet your new mechanic “ cyclone called as the walked more into the room still a little off being caught .
“ your new engineer actually “ she smiled brightly . “ its nice to meet you all name’s y/n “ waving to the group as mav introduce them  only for one to stand forward , flirty grin on his face.
“ hangman darling but you can call me jake”
“ you don’t need an introduction to bradley  “ mav laughed .
“ kids grown up huh , least you didn’t get your dad’s looks” rooster pulled her into a hug .
“ yeah having another mitchell  no need to remind me “ cyclone winced as seem to be a pain in his ass multiplied .
“ the best of best comes with a price old man.. Don’t worry they got medication for it “ she patted his arm as the other hide their amusement .
“ i’ll get her started “ mav snicker leading her over as cyclone walked out muttering something under his breathe and really questioning his life choice or why mitchell seemed to come into it .
“So  yeah  tables over here and tools her it close to the parts and inventory and also not in the way of you guys “ she held up her hand in framing out the vision of her idea  as her father nodded .
“ good job kid   what do you need ?” he asked.
“ erm i write a list “ she winced .
Getting on with the day  while dagger squad was doing some basic flight maneuvers for the recruits, y/n was deep into making the makeshift engineering station, seemingly the last one was deployed and one before that retired so  civilian contract was better case .  of course anything that was fast and full of adrenaline seemed to be hereditary only for it was the working of them , she love seeing what made these machines do what they did . so while girl when she was younger were playing with barbies and dolls she wanted tool and hotwheels or when she was a teen they were doing cheerleading she was in shop class getting greasy and oil all over her .
Just like her dad minute she got on the road it was in the form of two wheels a bike she bought cheap and worked to make it the most beloved creation .   inching to get working she got the station ready  it was for big repairs  while she could be closer to make sure if she needed to get to a jet she would be right there  an idea she was surprised cyclone even agreed with the whole thing giving what her dad told her she thought it was going to be more of a push then an easy yes . although he did come in and out of the hanger to check the progress .  It was also surreal meeting the dagger squad, people her dad constantly gushed on about it was sort of intimidating to see them in person but instantly that dissolved at the friendly welcome .    Each one of them made it out their way to make her first day a welcoming time  and Bradley well was Bradley so that helped .   she was even able to get started on paybacks jet , he noticed a rattling sound  during the take off  turned out  one of the brackets on the wheels were loose.
For first days it was pretty great and hell  easy on the eyes too .
In the blink of an eye the first few months went by as she sat  in the hard deck friday night  on the stool just watching them play. She couldn’t help it over time it was harder and harder to stop fawning and melting in her seat . of course they were all attractive and hot in their own way but their was a reason Pete mitchell never had to worry about his daughter getting in trouble with boy .. simply she wasn’t attracted to the male species . she was lucky with her father  being who he was accepting as he was which was more could be said about her mother  almost 15 years since she first came out,they hadn’t spoken and when they did it was to ask if she got over the ridiculous notion .  it wasn’t a notion it was her sexuality  one he father accept straight away whether he thought it was a phase or not the same would go for her grandmother  which ironically was her mothers mother . giving her father a choice of career didn’t always mean they were together   so she was in her grandmother's care instead of moving her around all the time . even though her dad was away a lot, he made sure keep in contact , make up for loss time it was a pretty good relationship  and with her grandmother meant the stability and being able to finish her education and not starting a new school a hundred times a year .. ok maybe not that many time but with maverick mitchell it wasn’t far off .  coming to top gun and working with the dagger squad was great but shit she was head over heels for natasha trace.   The brunette female aviator was  a dream come true , from the no nonsense  to her strong willed attitude. The way she care so much for her friends and those around no one could stand an absolute chance to not fall for her.   She couldn’t help it not the first time when she saw how easily phoenix could take on the guys , her confidence not cocky or overbearing more humble and relax .  she often get lost in the woman's presence only for rooster to bring her back to earth .
“ your drooling again” he chuckled as she turned her head with scoff hiding the way she had to make sure she actually wasn’t indeed drooling.
“  i wasn’t drooling” she huffed out before her eyes looked back to the pool table glancing at phoenix talking to bob  when their eyes met she would smile and y/n had a goofy grin right back .
“ jesus your worse that bradshaw” jake drawled making her glare at the man .
“ HEY” the both yelled .  “ i’m way cooler than he is “ she scoffed.
“ ok that maybe a little true , but hey you sit on a perch  “ he chuckled.
“ am i suppose to know what that means “ she looked between the two men.
“ look ask her out and just go from there  , hangman right as much as that pains me to say but jesus christ be an adult “ rooster chuckled  leading her over toward the two people .  before pushing her completely and heading to the bar.
“ hey woah nice of you to drop by literally “ nat snorted catching y/n
as the woman glared at the man she considered to be like her big brother before she turned so close almost melting into the chocolate brown eyes that almost felt like home . “ y/n … hello” nat laughed waving her hand  .
“ erm wanna go for lunch tomorrow … with me … just us “ she smiled weakly wondering what the hell was wrong with her.
“ of course girls day right “ .
“ yeah girls day totally what i meant man i cannot think… today cause i’m tired “ she wince already feeling the  shit hangman was going to give her for this she could already feel the blondes eyes on her burning into her skull and the smirk on his lips . “ cool yeah i’ll text you later” she smiled heading back over  toward where jake and bradley were.
“ hey  this is good maybe you’ll finally tell y/n your in love” bob whispered as nat was willing her heart to stop beating so fast.
“ shh she’ll hear you and plus it just friend thing it not a date .. sadly “ nat sighed looking over smiling when y/n hit jake in back of the head.
Y/n was still excited when she woke up even though it wasn’t the date she’d imagine or fact that it wasn’t actually a date because the beautiful lady she was talking to made her brain short circuit  in the short time of her request to even ask properly but today she would be ready taking some of jake and bradley advice to make it the best date / non date ever even  taking her car a cherry red corvette that she inherited from her grandmother  it was a thing of beauty  . she  sang along to the radio before stopping , maybe she was a little like Bradshaw, only she wasn’t partial to wearing the Hawaiian print like he was even though he had gotten her some .  she wore nice blouse and black high waisted shorts  it wasn’t too casual or overly dressy nice in between , make up was the same a soft glam  pulling up outside phoenix as beeping .  she was grateful for the sun glasses she “ borrowed “ on bradley because in that moment she was no better than a man as she hungry let her eyes roam . it was completely different from the head to toe khaki and tight bun she was used to seeing nat wears . her hair down soft wave to it and the dress  that came to her top of her knees almost vintage feel to the outfit and shit it made y/n hand sweat and her heart beating wild in her chest and when she smiled at her fuck she felt her knees get all shaky .
“ hey nice ride   the door opened .
“ yeahhh … thank you it was my grandmothers she gave it to me when she kicked the bucket “  she smiled internally wondering what the fuck was wrong with her and maybe ask if she was dropped on her head as a baby. “ you look beautiful by the way , stunning .. you always look beautiful though “ she babbled as nat chuckled.
“ thanks you look beautiful like always too” almost shy smile as pulled her belt on only occurring to y/n she should of got the door for her being all sweet and chivalrous but she could make up for that .
The drive wasn’t too bad, nerves subsiding slightly as y/n  was able to actually converse getting to know the female aviator more and more which only fed the feelings she was harbouring .   learning that nat had a older brother , her father was in the navy  , her mother a school teacher both were apprehensive when the baby of the family join the navy as a aviator but now both very proud .  she learned she also adopted a cat giving the more permanent station and fact that she when she was deployed it was someone to watch  it for her. Which in turn y/n new found love for felines were expressed . y/n told her about growing up with her grandmother and Mav leaving her mother out not even thinking of it to be honest it was like she always done and no one ever really commented .
“ your mom not around ? .. sorry that was probably insensitive “ nat wince realising it was probably for  a reason .
“  no it’s cool , we haven’t spoken in  15 years she can’t accept me so their no point trying to force her she got two new step kids and husband the last  i heard “ she shrugged it stopped being sore subject a long time ago only reason she never spoke of the woman was she was never really  cross her mind .
“ accept you what  did she want you to become a doctor or something” nat asked confused just as the light all clicked on in y/n head.
“ oh you didn’t know huh ?”  she chucked nervously. “ no my mom  is homophobic and well having a gay daughter although does it count since i’m dead to her til i stop this nonsense” she laughed.
“ you’re gay ?”.
“ uh huh ,  it was hard coming out but my grandma and dad made me know i was loved no matter what so it’s not too bad” y/n  smiled fondly .
“ my dad didn’t accept it at first just like the navy  but came around even goes to the pride parades to show he’s an ally “ nat chuckled.
“ my dad too although i swear that man is more involved than he says i seen him and my uncle ice it’s a running joke with me and my aunt sarah that their the married couple really  or they were “ she sighed.
“ i’d say it surreal to have the hall of fame as a second family “ nat smiled sweetly like a shift in the mood  a more comfortable feeling washing over the two .
“ oh it major boots to fill hence why i never joined the navy , knowing it was big, big shoes to fill but hey i didn’t stray far from it “ she snorted  thinking of the sheer irony.  “ plus i think the navy got all it need with aviators as good as you  “ she winked .
“ well thank you and with you looking after the jets well we are unstoppable “ nat winked back  making y/n cheeks flush. “ interesting cute though” she muttered .
“ we’re nearly here hope you like italian “  y/n mused trying to gain so control over herself .
Pulling up to the restaurant y/n rushed out of the car making her way to the other side opening the door  and holding her hand making it a bit more extra effort in the action  and making up for no doing it when she first  arrived to collect the woman even holding her arm out  as nat took it . escorting her into the restaurant with almost proud smile with such a woman on her arm til the were led to the table she was one that pulled the chair out before taking her own seat.
“ so hows it going settling here  , your dad said you lived in chicago before you came here?” nat asked .
“ oh i love it here it feels more like home than home did , i don’t’ know if that even makes sense “
“ it does i know that feeling i never thought i would settle somewhere used to temporary stays but here it never felt temporary so when we got asked i think we all jumped at the chance “  nat shook her head  thinking how mad it really was how they all agreed this was their home now .
“ you met anyone ?” y/n blurted out.
“  not yet” she smirked .
“ oh you seeing someone ?” sort of said in the tone.
“ i got my eye on someone , someone who’s very good with her hands , hot as fuck and not in the navy but not far from it “ she raised her glass  a knowing grin on her face as it took y/n minute .
“ well maybe i do too , wanted to ask her on a date but she thought it was a friendly outing” she shot back . “ what flowers do you like… you know for the next date?” she smiled more confidently .
“ hmm something wild but beautiful “ nat mused  the air definitely taking a more pleasant undertone .
“ well lets order  cause i got more planned for rest of this date  that was secretly always a date not gonna lie “ she smiled more victoriously .  “ off that perch and swoop you up “ she winked picking her hand up and kissing her hand .
let me know if anyone wants a part two ( it will be 18+)
Celestino Vietti, I’m one with the bike
Tumblr media
From the Piemonte Alps to Moto2. Interview to the SKY Racing Team VR46 talent
“The most beautiful memory I have of my childhood is tied to a three wheels bike. My dad had built it for my older brother, using the engine of a grass trimmer. I used to look at my brother going around on it in the backyard, then one day I asked to try it: once I got on it I irremediably fell in love with engines. Once I got down from that first trial I immediately asked my dad to buy me a two wheels motorbike. “To have a bike without training wheels you first have to know how to ride with them”, was his answer. So I started training and at eight years old I found myself riding in my first italian championship...”
Celestino Vietti is lightness, a youthly lightness, a mature lightness, a fast lightness, cheeky to the right degree. Not yet twenty, he’s approaching his first Moto2 season, wearing the SKY Racing Team VR 46 leathers on Marco Bezzecchi’s side.
Tumblr media
Leathers that ‘Celin’ paints with the colours of his region, Piemonte. Right in Coassolo Torinese, small settlement wedged between the Valli di Lanzo, two wheels racing had started indelibly marking his life. An atypical place, Alpi Graie, to be the natal place of a world championship level rider. A place that becomes typical as soon as you open wide the doors of the Vietti’s home.
“My uncle and my dad have always been big enthusiasts. My dad even did some uphill races when he was young. I lived all my childhood in a motorsport enviroment. My relatives had and still now have an agricultural machine repair shop that rapidly became a mandatory stop of my summers. There I used to take apart chainsaws and everything else I could find. Now I realise that the time spent in the repair shop gifted me a better feeling with the engine, with mechanics. My dad also gave me a lot of tools to read and understand the bike’s problems: thanks to him my bond with the bike got to a superior level. It’s as if I feel more merged with what I have under me, I listen to every single sound, I know how to decipher and manage it...”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A management that for this young promise of two wheels racing hasn’t been and isn’t limited to the technical side, overflowing in the character, human one. Sat in the shades of the WITHU paddock, what immediately hits you of Celestino are the lucidity in the self-analysis, the ease in communicating, in summarising the different steps he took in such a short, but already so full, life.
“To follow my dream I had to move out of my home during adolescence. The first months were so fast, everything was new, new experiences, new acquaintances. Once you settle you start thinking that once you get home from training nobody is there to wait for you. Relatives, friends, everybody is distant, everything starts getting hard. I had to grow on a personal level and, consequently, as a rider. Situations like this teach you how to manage yourself on the emotional side: sometimes I tend to get angry easily, being this much on your own helps you to reflect, to remain lucid”
Vietti’s growth was mainly through the motorsport Academy for definition, that two wheels paradise build by the tarmac’s ‘Doctor’. A restricted cenacle reserved only to those who are destined to make an art form out of racing. Disciples, students, riders waiting to see their own boundless talent explode.
“Getting into the VR46 Racing Academy was a turning point. It's important to realise your luck, the privilege you have to train every day with the best riders in the World Championship. Every time you get on track it’s an enormous challenge, there’s always somebody faster than you. I try to look at everyone, we’re many, we’re ‘colourful’, everyone has a certain characteristic to learn from: I have by my side two World Champions and then Vale, my idol, I think there’s nothing else to add...”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He slightly moves his hair out of the way, Celestino, when he talks about topics he’s particularly sensible about. He smiles, a sincerely emotional smile, when he gets asked what the bike means for him, for his being. A question that strikes way higher chords than the sports one.
“When you go really fast you become one with her, you find a magic harmony. Whatever she wants to do, you do it too, you become one thing. When she wants to do one thing, and you want to do another one instead, you struggle. True struggle. You can feel the separation between the two bodies. For me the bike has some sort of life of his own: it’s something difficult to explain”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Difficult to explain, evocative to listen to. There’s dept in the words of this barely more than teenager rider of the Sky Team. On him also weight hopes and expectations of many italian fans, charmed by his results in the 2020 Moto3 season and the two first places obtained in the Styrian and France GP.
Celestino is lucid in his analysis of the big jump to Moto2, a natural jump, even though initially complex. The piemonte rider need a settling period, an adjustment phase that now appears completed, processed. To demonstrate it, an always growing confidence in placements and continuity of performances, an exponentially growing mental and sensorial presence.
“The impact with Moto2 was difficult. It’s a very particular category, unlike Moto3 it rewards constancy, precision, the bike doesn’t want to be assaulted, you can’t afford to do ‘crazy’ lap and feel satisfied. You have to curate the rhythm, you need surgical attention. Now my goal is to get as high as I can in the standings, to continue with the positive feelings of the last races and to keep building up unity with the bike. The future? Everybody’s dream is to become world champion, it’s useless beating around the bush, I’ll work hard to be able to make it”
The Climb
Tumblr media
Summary: You're a scientist, an engineer to be exact. Called to a meeting you had no real right to be at, Optimus Prime takes an exclusive interest in you, but you can't help but ask yourself at every turn, Why?
Rating: 18+ 🌹🩸🍆
Story Masterlist
Chapter 14
‘Optimus, I cannot recommend this.’ Ratchet shook his head. ‘You have not even repaired your own injuries and we have no idea what this will do to an organic.’
     ‘I am willing to take the risk.’ Optimus sat back defiantly.
     ‘Woah, hold on.’ Lennox caught their attention. ‘What are you talking about? What is Spark-sharing?’
     Ratchet and Optimus looked to each other. Ratchet folded his arms, unhappy with the situation.
     ‘I would give up a piece of my Spark to allow her to live.’ Optimus said to Lennox.
     ‘Wait, you could save her?’
     ‘Yes.’
     ‘We don’t know.’ Ratchet interrupted. ‘Major Lennox, this procedure is dangerous for healthy Autobots, but to transfer into a human… we have no idea if it will work or if Optimus would survive. We could lose both of them.’
     Lennox nodded, looking up at the Autobot leader. He had a look of realisation in his eye. ‘How does it work?’
     ‘A small piece of my Spark would be removed,’ Optimus explained. ‘And placed inside Jane’s body.’
     ‘It could destroy her.’ Ratchet again cut in.
     ‘If the piece is small enough and started with their machines, it will adapt and learn how to help her.’ Optimus growled. Ratchet seemed to still for a moment.
     ‘Wait, could that work?’ Ironhide stepped forward, realising that Ratchet’s arguments may have been flawed.
     Ratchet thought for a moment, before sighing, deflated.
     ‘The theory is solid.’ He admitted. ‘Once the Spark is removed, it would die, but it could be restarted again with a small amount of charge. Your machines are calibrated to the exact requirements of a human heart, it would be enough to revive the Spark and teach it to only give what is needed. But this is still dangerous, Optimus.’
     ‘I have already said, I am willing to take the risk.’
     Everyone turned to Ratchet, it technically wasn’t his choice, but he was the only one who could pull it off.
     He sighed once again. ‘Fine.’
     Ironhide immediately transformed and Lennox, along with the doctors, loaded up Jane’s body carefully. Ratchet helped Optimus to his feet, and they made their way back to the nearest base. Time wouldn’t be on their side, the longer she was gone, the less likely she was to come back.
     Ratchet did what he could to prepare Optimus for the procedure, opening his chest and getting the doctors to measure out the size of Jane’s chest cavity. The piece taken from Optimus would be tiny and he worried that it would be far too small to actually help her.
     They made it to the base and the operating room had already been prepared by the medical staff there. Jane was being loaded inside and Optimus was being brought close to her.
     ‘I will need help restraining you.’ Ratchet said, preparing his own equipment. ‘This will not be pleasant.’
     Ironhide, Hound, Drift and Bumblebee all held their leader down as Ratchet brought out his tools to cut away the piece of Spark needed for Jane.
     Optimus did his best, but he had never felt agony like this before. His friends held his strong body as best they could, he almost broke free, but some of the remaining Autobots jumped on to help keep him as still as possible. Death would have been kinder but at no point did he regret his actions, if it saved Jane then it would be worth it. But his whole body felt like it was melting and burning, like a hole was being slowly created inside him.
     Ratchet finally managed to pull put the tiniest piece of his Spark, he couldn’t believe such a tiny thing had caused him so much agony.
     Optimus turned his head to see Ratchet reaching inside the operating room, handing the Spark to the doctors who had already removed Jane’s own organic heart. If this didn’t work, she truly would be gone.
     It was too much for him to think about, Optimus leaned back and allowed his body to rest, he needed to repair, and he hoped that when his eyes opened, Jane would be with him.
---
Lennox had never heard anything like it, Optimus Prime screaming for his life. It almost made him want to step forward to stop the procedure, tell them that Jane wouldn’t want this if it caused him such pain. But it wasn’t his choice.
     Ratchet had guided the medical staff through what would normally happen when transferring the Spark to another Autobot, they were able to figure out how to place it inside Jane and encourage it to join with her organic form.
     In truth, Lennox didn’t believe anyone had any idea of what the consequences of this decision would be. He didn’t even know how confident Ratchet was that this would work, but if there was a chance that Harding could survive, it was worth taking.
     The doctors did what they could and restarted the Spark with the defibrillator, calibrated specifically to the exact charge needed to sustain human life. He wasn’t sure what else could be done.
     Finally, the procedure was over. Optimus was resting and repairing, and Jane was being monitored heavily by almost every doctor on base. Everything was telling them that her body was functioning, blood was pumping, she was breathing again, but there was no heartbeat as such. Rather there was a small, soft pulsing that came from the Spark itself.
     Ratchet was happy enough that it worked, but Jane had yet to wake up. After two days, her condition hadn’t changed.
     ‘Her mission was successful.’ Colonel Morshower said over the video feed. ‘The alien ship is gone, and we’ve been informed it is leaving our solar system.’
     ‘Yes, sir.’ Lennox nodded, still slightly distracted.
     ‘Something you wanna say, son?’
     Lennox gave a brief smile. ‘Not really, sir.’ He admitted, making the Colonel chuckle. ‘What happens if Smith finds out about the Spark-sharing?’
     ‘I don’t think that’s a question of if, but when.’ Morshower leaned forward. ‘The argument will be that the Autobots have shared their technology. Now I know that these were exceptional circumstances, but that is how it will be viewed. You need to be prepared for that, so does Harding and Optimus.’
     Lennox nodded in understanding.
    ‘While I have no idea what will actually happen when Smith finds out, I’m sure you can make an educated guess.’ Morshower warned, much more seriously. ‘I’ll admit, part of me hopes Harding doesn’t wake up. If she does, nothing will be easy.’
     ‘Yes, sir.’ Lennox agreed and finished giving his report on everything that happened.
     In the back of his mind, he couldn’t help but remember the way Optimus had looked at Harding when her body was given over to the doctors. He cared for her a lot. Maybe too much.
Day 12
I apologize for the rather abrupt ending of the last record, as circumstances became rather frantic after the recorded incidents. I will apply my best efforts to summarize the following events shortly. After the human volunteered to perform the repair of the damaged outer hover engine, a rather heated discussion broke loose, concerning the risks and other possible solutions to the current situation. The Vitrichl decided that the human should perform the repair, as long as it was proved that her chance of survival was high enough. Several tests were performed, and all of them concluded that the human had a surprisingly good chance at surviving the excursion, although it was unclear whether she would return unharmed, as there was simply not enough information known about Terrans.
The Vitrichl ordered for a group of personally selected mechanics and scientists of the crew to supervise the excursion over the video recording of the space suit the human would be wearing. I was assigned as a part of this group. The human itself, inexplicably, remained incredibly calm, seemingly not grasping the gravity of the situation at hand. Despite my best efforts to make her aware of the responsibility she was assigned, she remained unresponsive. "I am applying my best efforts to make you aware of the risk you are taking.", I stated, trailing after her. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. I read the safety thingy, like, three times. And basically the entire board team will be there to guide me through the entire process and tell me exactly what to do. I'll basically not even have to think myself." "I would appreciate it if you did not neglect your thought process during such an important task." "Of course I won't actually stop thinking, it's just a way of speaking. Anyway, you'll have the entire video footage from my suit and as long as the suit remains intact, I should be fine.", Quinn continued. "Still, the probability that the system fails and you do not return…" "Is low enough.", Quinn cut me off.
"Listen, you oughta stop worrying. I might know nothing about alien technology, but this crew knows about it. And, to our luck, I'll have direct contact to them the entire time." She stepped into her assorted suit, machines around her closing and tying everything into place. Eventually, a helmet was lowered onto her head, the reflective surface hiding her face. She extended her right arm, lowering all her fingers except for the first and biggest one, which she pointed upwards. I could not decipher the purpose of this gesture, and as I could not see her facial expression, I was not able put any of my previous knowledge of humans to use.
The human underwent several further safety checks, before the medicals decided it would be appropriate to start the mission at that time. The task of the human was first to simply observe the entire damage, in order to confirm that our monitors grasped the entire extent of the damage. Furthermore, she should, under our supervision and precise instructions, reverse the worst damage she could and, at best, reverse the engine into a working state. The human was transferred into the duct from where all outerboard missions that did not require any larger equipment where started. As soon as the door opened and the human stepped into the void, medicals and scientists scrambled to examine her vitals. "Vitals are steady", a medical informed. Wrin pressed several keys on the control board, establishing the communication line between Quinn's suit and the SIIR Noxos. "Okay, Quinn, how do you feel?", Wrin, who was, for their standards, surprisingly sober, spoke into the communication tool. "Well, I feel like I've just drank a shit ton of water and then gone onto a roller coaster one too many times. Besides that, wow", Quinn's voice sounded from the other end. "Alright, I'm just going to pretend I understood any of that. So, give us a bit to get the suit camera sorted and then you can go on.", Wrin drawled, pressing a few more keys on one of the monitors. As the technicians confirmed a stable signal, Wrin began to guide Quinn into the direction of the damaged engine.
The human's vitals remained stable as she approached the engine in question. As instructed, the human began a scan of the area through her suit, linking the results directly into the main control quarters. Through the analyzation of the information, the technicians were able to confirm that there was no worse damage than our previous scans had recorded.
The human began to work on the engine. She removed the outer layer of metal within a few moments, which was almost fully demolished. As she worked towards middle of the structure, I observed her every step. She moved coordinated and careful, as if frightened that the engine might implode if she didn't (which was, admittedly, a rather real threath). Eventually, she removed a piece of charred metal, exposing an accumulation of cables. Wrin straightened as I took the communication tool from them and spoke into it: "Quinn, these cables are of high importance. Would you be able to reach the brown cable and remove it from its place? As careful as possible.", I added. Despite my, in my eyes, rather clear instructions, the human continued to reach towards a completely wrong cable. "Human", I interjected. "I do not mean to be insensitive, but that is not the cable I was referring to." "Huh? But that one's brown?", the human responded, tone signaling possible confusion, although I could not be sure, as her face was still hidden. "Human-", I started once again, thinking of the most polite way to phrase the following statement, but I could not finish, as Wrin pushed me away rather aggressively before taking the communication tool themselves. "Quinn, the mechanic‘s referring to the second cable from the far right.", Wrin eludicated. "…but that one's Magenta!", Quinn protested further. "Not to the mechanic. Different eyes, different colour perception.", Wrin quipped. Quinn said something indiscernably quiet, before continuing, carefully following Wrin's instructions. As these records' purpose is to observe human behaviour, I will not go into much detail describing the repair. If you wish to obtain more precise information about the details of this particular repair, I suggest you visit the archives, in which we keep all records of repairs, routine check-ups and everything else regarding the state of the ship, to gain a further insight.
The human proceeded the repair, although another thing of note happened rather towards the end: After the human had reconnected several wires and added a new protective layer on the engine's surface, the technicians tested whether or not the engine would start, obviously after the human had moved to a safe distance. The technicians started the engine at its highest setting, but with no success. No sound emitted from the engine. "Wait, let me try something.", the human sounded over the communication line. In spite of any common sense, the human moved closer towards the engine. The human inspected the engine, before suddenly, for some to me inexplicable reason, hitting the engine repeatedly with the flatter side of her hand. "Alright, try again." "Human Quinn, it is imperative that you move out of the immediate proximity of the engine.", I stated, but the human refused. "No, I wanna try something." "Human, it is-" "On one, come on, guys.", Quinn cut me off. "Start the engine on one." Against better judgement, the technicians began to prepare another start of the engine. "Okay, ready? Three, two, one, go!", besides my best efforts to stop them, the technicians started the engine at the exact time as Quinn hit its outer layer again. Fortunately, the engine did start. Unfortunately, the stuttering start of the engine produced a pressure wave that catapulted the Terran away from it. Eventually, her body was stopped by the cable attached to form a connection between the space suit that the human was wearing, and the SIIR Noxos. The body of the human did not move. Wrin, seemingly concerned, spoke into the communication line. "Quinn?" It took a few moments before we received any kind of answer, the silence filled with a slight buzzing sound. Then we registered the human's voice over the line. At first, the human only produced several sounds, possibly signaling pain. Then: "Well, I'm never doing that again." A pause. "Did it work? Is the engine stable?" "The engine is running. I wouldn't call it stable, but it will get us far enough.", one of the technicians informed.
Silence.
"Alright, Quinn, we‘re going to pull you back into the ship. Try not to move too much and uh…don‘t die.", Wrin spoke up.
"I can do that."
As the retraction program was started, I, accompanied by Wrin proceeded towards the intertravel duct. The human arrived shortly afterwards.
The suit seemed to be unharmed, a good sign, but its owner did not.
As a robotic arm removed the helmet and started to disassemble the suit, the human stumbled out. Stumbling, that was not a good sign. The human’s complexion was even paler than its naturally bright shade. And the skin of her face seemed to have a slight green undertone. Had it always been there? I could not recall. Perhaps their skin changed colours, similar to Wrin‘s species?
I was brought away from these suspicions, as the human opened her mouth and released a brown-green, odd-smelling fluid out of her mouth and onto the floor. This couldn‘t be normal, could it?
The human was immediately referred into the, for a ship and crew this size admittedly rather small, hospital wing. The medicals are currently observing and recording any interesting observations regarding the human‘s body. Unfortunately, while the medicals are treating Quinn to the best of their ability, it is difficult, as there is so little known about humans.
Although, perhaps this way I will receive more information regarding the anatomy of humans.
I will continue to record the recovery and the state of the human.
